Description
Here's an original, sepia-toned 8" x 10" publicity photo of trombonist/tubaist/bassist/banjoist Eddie Edwards. He has signed and inscribed it in fountain pen as follows: "To Jim, Best wishes, Eddie Edwards, [illegible] Co., Boston, 2/13/26."
Edwards was the original trombonist of the Original Dixieland Jazz Band until he was drafted in the fall of 1918. Later on he recorded with Lou Gold, Johnny Sylvester, the Coon Sanders band, and countless ODJB reunion bands. Overall, the photo is in very good condition. There are two flaws affecting only the border, but not the image: a small area of paper loss in the upper right-hand corner, and a crease in the lower left-hand corner. The back is clean except for a bit of pencil writing.
