The Beatles - 1970 Original, Vintage Hey Jude Album Cover W/ "The Beatles Again" on the Record Label! - Apple SW-385 is on the spine along with "Hey Jude" and SO-385 on the record label with "The Beatles Again"- Back cover has minor ring wear, white sleeve is original and in excellent condition and record is in excellent condition (has a few minor surface scratches) - it was tested and plays very well.
The Hey Jude LP (aka The Beatles Again) released to the American market in February 1970.
The album was originally to be titled The Beatles Again but a last minute decision was made to change the title to Hey Jude in order to emphasize the inclusion of The Beatles highest-selling single of the same name. Some of the record labels were already printed after the decision to change the title and consequently these earliest labels show the title as The Beatles Again. The album’s original catalog number was SO-385. The first character was customarily “S” for stereo LPs and the second character represented a list price code. “O” indicated a list price of $6.98. Capitol and Apple decided after the earliest labels were printed, to use the lower price code of “W” indicating a list price of $5.98, since the album had no new material. That is why initial labels that had the title The Beatles Again also contained the original catalog number SO-385 instead of SW-385. There are also labels with the original album title of The Beatles Again and the revised number SW-385. After the supply of these early labels was depleted, new labels were printed with the corrected title, Hey Jude, and revised catalog number SW-385.
