Description
This1959 Jack Fascinato album is STILL SEALED in a LOOSE BAGGY STYLE wrap. The wrap has a few worn areas but it is sealed.
I have owned it for around 15 years and never opened it. I think it's genuine because of the loose baggy style but one never knows (see below). There are a few "dirty" impressions on the beautiful cover but it could be dust entering through a few worn areas of the wrap.
I'm starting the bidding a little higher on this one album because it is both RARE and early Capitol stereo was a pleasure!
GRADING GUIDELINES:
SEALED RECORDS
There can be no guarantees for SEALED records because “sealed” does not automatically mean mint. The vinyl is assumed to be mint but this cannot be proven until the album is actually opened. A sealed album might have imperfections - - - the record inside might not be the original or most desirable pressing . . . it could be a reissue . . . it may have been re-sealed by a previous owner . . . the wrong record might even be inside. A sealed record should be purchased only with the understanding that it is assumed to have been unplayed.
MINT or M
P-E-R-F-E-C-T! Mint albums are absolutely perfect in every way. A “mint” record looks like it has just left the manufacturer with NO flaws whatsoever. A mint cover should appear to have never had a record inside it. Age of the record has nothing to do with it - a mint record from 1959 should look like a mint record from 2015.
NEAR MINT or NM
This is my highest realistic grade. A record that is otherwise mint but has one or two tiny, inconsequential flaws that do not affect the quality of play or the appearance is "near mint". The vinyl looks like it just came from a retail store and it was opened for the first time. NM records are shiny, with no visible defects, no writing, stickers or spindle marks on the label. It should play with no surface noise. LP covers should be close to perfect with minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident, like minor denting to a corner. NM is as close to perfect as one will get.
VG++
A “VG++” album is a few minor flaws shy of near mint. Some minor scuffs might be visible but scuffs lay on top of the grooves and there is no audible interference. Scratches can be felt with your fingernail and soft clicks or loud pops will be heard when played. There should be no scratches on a VG++ record. Cover artwork should be near perfect. Some impression to the cover but no ink wear. Some slight creases or whiteness to the corners. No seam splits, writing on the cover or taped repairs.
VG+
A VG+ record has been handled and played with great care. It will show some wear, surface scuffs and some very light scratches that do not degrade the listening experience. The vinyl should still have great luster, but when holding the record up to a very bright light you can see tiny lines across the surface. Album covers should have only minor wear or a small split. VG+ covers may have some defacing, such as a writing, a slightly dog-eared corner or a cut-out marking. The back of the cover may appear somewhat yellow with age but no stains or mildew
VERY GOOD or VG
There will be some surface noise with a “VG” album, especially in soft passages or between tracks but the noise will not overpower the music. A VG record will appear to have been well played but not abused. The vinyl may have lost some luster and have light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail. Minor writing, tape or a sticker can detract from the label. VG covers will have multiple signs of human handling. There may be some seam splitting or ring wear. More creases might be visible. There may be some writing on the cover which will look more aged. VG still has some attractive life to it and should not have taped seams or reveal water damage.
