Description
I am selling my copy of “Hold Your Fire” by Patto on Vertigo 6360032 which I have owned from new and believe (I’m no expert) to be a first pressing.
The die cut, gimmicks Roger Dean design un-laminated gatefold sleeve is fully intact and functioning with no seam splits or tears and no significant scratches or fading. There are minor scuffs to corners as shown in the images. It has always been kept in an external plastic cover.
The inner cover has some colour transfer from the reverse of the opening leaves but what do you expect from an album from 1971!
The rear cover has no significant marks or creases and all text is clear
The inner sleeve is the original Vertigo swirl on a white background with its inner polythene liner intact. There is some brown discolouration to the top and bottom edges, presumably from the aging of the glue used. It is creased but has no tears. The sleeve carries the British patents and “Made in England 5 0671”
The vinyl carries the stamped matrix marks: 6360032 1Y//1?420 11 3 and 6360032 2Y//1?420 11 3. There are no visible scratches to the surface of either side. There is however surface “marbling” evident on both sides as can be seen on the close ups of the vinyl which I suspect is the result of storage within the original polythene liner. Although I parted with my turntable 15+ years ago so the disc hadn’t been played in that time, I have recently played it disc and listened through headphones and believe that the this “marbling” is not noticeable in terms of the sound quality. There is the normal slight surface noise but generally only noticeable during quiet passages and gaps between tracks.
The vinyl labels are the Vertigo Swirls. Side A has the complete swirl. Side B has the track listing with the Swirl and VERTIGO above the spindle hole. Both labels are in excellent condition with Side A only having a 2mm white mark approximately 10mm from the spindle hole.
All the above is about the physical condition of the album. Musically it is superb!
