Description
On offer are 2 LPs by PAUL BRADY - ANDY IRVINE & PAUL BRADY from 1976 on MULLIGAN (LUN 008) and WELCOME HERE KIND STRANGER from 1978 on MULLIGAN (LUN 024).
The former, a fruitful collaboration with Andy Irvine from Sweeney’s Man/Planxty, contains the definitive ‘Arthur McBride’. With the latter, Brady takes his leave of Irish traditional folk in exemplary fashion. Both are indispensable records.
Both albums are in NEAR MINT condition with no scratches, no scuffmarks, no pops, no sticking and no background noise (both unplayed, is my guess). There is no wear, no writing, and no spindle marks on the labels. The cover of ANDY IRVINE & PAUL BRADY is EXCELLENT, with evidence of ringwear. The cover of WHKS is EXC to NM with straight and sharp edges.
The records comes from the collection of the late Ian Chappell, director of the Hampshire-based South Eastern Museums Service. A devoted collector of folk music, Chappell would obsessively buy multiple copies of the same record in search of vinyl perfection. They were acquired by the seller at auction from Omega Auctions of Stockport in June 2012.

Proprietor Mike Butler cut his teeth dealing in records in Camden Town in the early eighties, mentored by Al Jones of Out On the Floor Records, Inverness Street, but since 1989 made his living as a freelance music journalist, with his work, mainly jazz criticism, appearing in Manchester City Life, Mojo, Independent on Sunday and the Guardian.
