PAUL WHITEMAN & ORCH. W/ BING CROSBY--Columbia Viva-Tonal  2163-D Potato Head Label Original Sleeve Song Of The Dawn // It Happened In Monterey ---  CONDITION: E+ // E+ or Better!
Rarely does a Whiteman Potato Head record with Bing Crosby, and the original sleeve, come up for auction. Well, here it is! Two great tunes from Universal's latest 1930 talkie "The King of Jazz", are featured on this record. Bing sings on Song of the Dawn: he has a great solo, then comes back, ends the record with the orchestra and a chorus. Wow! Other side features the iconic waltz from this picture, It Happened in Monerey, sung by Whiteman regular, Johnny Fulton. First class Whiteman harmonies and arrangements make this a "must have" record.  Condition is E+, or slightly better. This Columbia laminated record has very silent surfaces and only a tiny scratch, on the Monterey side, which is superficial and does not sound. There is also a very small piece of the laminate missing from the Song of the Dawn rim, which does not affect anything. The sleeve is probably the only item that is much less than perfect. The bottom and sides have been repaired with tape, but other than normal wear, it is beautiful --- this is the last of these sleeves I own! . As with all records purchased from me, they are cleaned with the VPI professional Record Washing System, so the sides are free of grit and dirt and they are CLEAN!

Unless otherwise noted, records are shipped in plain manilla sleeves and shipped in heavy cardboard boxes with double pieces of cardboard top and bottom and the middle (if the the shipment is large enough) and packed with popcorn and/or bubble material -- PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT USE NEWSPAPERS, only top grade packing materials.
