Welcome to 'Its the vinyl countdown' music auctions. Here you will find some of the most incredible rare records and music memorabilia for your collection. You will not see worn covers, warped records or scratched records. We simply do not bother with them.

We play through most of the records, unless the item is clearly mint, or sealed..in which case we don't play them, thus maintaining their 'unplayed' status!  Obviously with some of these rare items there will be the odd 'anomoly' along the way , the odd little static pop or lead in 'sizzle' for a split second.. nothing is perfect we find! all systems differ, but we aim to describe these as accurately as possible for you.... PLEASE ENJOY THIS ITEM YOU ARE NOW LOOKING AT..

WITH THE RARE 1st CENTRE LABELS

THE VINYL   EX+ PLAY    EX VISUAL

As you can see, this vinyl is the FIRST A2 B2 pressing  - WITH THOSE SOLID BLUE TRIANGLE LABELS (Soon discarded, as we are led to believe, the type was not clear enough so they switcvhed to the common 'outline triangle')

Only A2 B2 pressings with the GRAMOPHONE RIM are the true 'grail' of pressings.. THIS IS THE ONE!

Stored from new this LP has seen AVERAGE CAREFUL plays, and remains in AMAZING PLAY everywhere.

THE VINYL PLAYS QUITE SUPERB!

Even poor copies are fetching very serious money, so this example? It is rare to see in such playable condition and COMPLETE with all the correct inserts and sleeve. SO BID STRONG HERE!

And so onto the vinyl... we will try to describe this with as much accuracy as posible for you, as you are about to bid on a true historical collectors item.

Visually this LP has some light hairlines, and some whisp on both sides as you may expect to see.. nothing bad, not MINT (like thats even possible!) But overall a lovely, way higher than average example.

The edges are silky smooth like all first presses should be- thevinyl itself is shiny and has hardly any dull at all-

For the record, even tho this 'DSOTM' is so rare, we would not touch it if it played bad or looked bad, rare or not, its not in our interest to list rubbish sounding rare records!

And, so rest assured you are looking at a top condition example..

Side 1

SPEAK TO ME & GREAT GIG IN THE SKY- These have a light hairline mark on each of them, 'Gig' has a kind of dull line, and neither penetrates the vinyl and hardly any static is heard - some very light sizzle in incidental spots only- it did not worry us. The intro to the LP has some light sizzle which dissapears once the scream kicks in.. the sound is still amazing after all these years!

BREATHE/ ON THE RUN/ TIME - Some very very feint whisp, no marks on these tracks, nothing to worry over. The play is superb.. just the very odd little dust pop- a professional hoover cleaner could get this even better!!!

Side 2

MONEY Has a very light hairline, again nothing sounded here, the lightest of lead in static on the intro, and some light sizzle on the album outro

US AND THEM/ ANY COLOUR/ BRAIN DAMAGE/ ECLIPSE - All just some whispy lines and a couple of feint hairlines, again just some light incidental static, no pops clicks or jumps.The play is superb.. just the very odd little dust pop- a professional hoover cleaner could get this even better!!!

Obviously this is not MINT, but for such a rare pressing, it is a total joy, as unlike many copies you'll see which are just trashed, this is a real cracker... we have no hesitation in saying, for the TRUE COLLECTORS out there wishing to get what is a wondeful COMPLETE copy - this is it.

a Mint one, if such a thing is available will be in the thousands.. we saw one go for over £2000 a while back.. and that was not even MINT really... quite remarkable!

OVERALL THIS IS SIMPLY A MUST FOR ANY UPGRADE COLLECTION.

THE LABELS   MINT- 

Gramophone rim, featuring the solid triangle, everything here is as you would wish for.. some light spindle skid around the centre hole on each side, minimal wear to the hole itself.

THE SLEEVE     EX STRONG 

Correct FLAT MATT GATEFOLD UK issued sleeve  - with SINGLE SIDE OPENING, PETROL BLUE INKY FINISH, BLACK TEXTURED DIE CUT INNER STILL HERE TOO!

BOTH POSTERS AND BOTH STICKERS ARE INSIDE!!!

PRINTER CREDITS -  GARROD & LOFTHOUSE

MOST SLEEVES OF THIS LP AS WE ALL KNOW, SUFFER TERRIBLY WITHOUT VERY CAREFUL HANDLING.. we aim here to desribe the sleeve as honest and clear as we can, again- beware for later 'better' sleeves being mixed and matched to present a more but false attractive example.. the sleeve MUST tally correctly with the A2 B2 press.. 'double open edge' black stickered sleeves are the giveaway.. they are wrong.

THIS ONE IS A SUPER EXAMPLE

SINGLE OPENING SIDE SLEEVE & SMALL CATALOGUE NUMBER ON BACK TOP RIGHT

 All colours and inks remain in outstanding condition

No  ringwear of any note, bar the feintest patch on the front right (hardly worth noticing)

Some very light ring press,  & no white rubbing anywhere - 

SOME LIGHT spider lines on the edge and spine.

Just some very light tip rub on the open corners - corners are dinked, the bottom one having a series of tiny crease lines for about 1"

The spine tips are nice, the bottom one is slightly dinked.

A couple of white hairlines on the back sleeve near the triangle

The open edge remains in immaculate sharp condition -just a hint of feathering

The spine is super , has the one white 'tram line' as all G&L sleeves did..and there is just some light edge rub. no credits printed here.

AND the open out of the gatefold is  pristine - no wear or damage.. quite wonderful!

WE CANNOT SAY MORE THAN THIS REALLY IS A SPECIAL AUCTION..

THE INNER SLEEVE   EX

Original BLACK TEXTURED PAPER  INNER SLEEVE, WITH THE DIE CUT CENTRE (Later ones were white EMI ones)

Small seam split at side, and a few light spider lines. Some minor creasing and a little 'nick tear' on the top edge, some light 'knicks' on the side seam.. overall tho, very presentable.

POSTERS AND STICKERS  UNDISPLAYED MINT-

Both stickers have the WAVY LINE on the back with the word 'PERMANENT' printed across them both.. no disclour or wear- superb!!!!  We believe later stickers were the mid 70s 'crack back diagonal' versions.. again watch out for mix and matches!

Posters are folded and appear never opened.. and not used.

 LP kept in further poly sleeve inside.
