Original UK release.

1st Press Matrix, original Midnight Blue/black Gatefold sleeve.

Orriginal Black patent pending inner sleeve.

1st PRESS.

Matrix Numbers: SHVL 804 A-2 / SHVL 804 B-2

All original 1st press album & sleeve, including inner.

Please note that the outer gatefold sleeve is the sleeve that, unlike

later sleeve that were simple glued together on the one open end,

This is the sleeve that was made with a folded over flap and then glued inside the open end. (see picture)

As this is a very sought after example of this album, I will be really brutal with my description.

Some sellers may give this package a higher grade than the one I give it.

Outer Sleeve:

Dark Blue / nearly black gatefold sleeve.

The sleeve is in a Very good plus condition, it has very light signs of shelf storage and slight ware to some small parts of the extreme edges, just a whisper of ringware.

when opened the inside of the sleeve is in excellent condition.

The sleeve has been enclosed in a plastic protective sleeve for most of its life.

I grade the outer sleeve as very good plus. as it dose have very slight edge ware to it,

Inner Sleeve:

Original Black polly lines inner sleeve with the two sets patent numbers stamped on the left bottom edge, and the made in great Briton stamped on the right.

This inner sleeve remains undamaged.

Posters and Stickers.

The two posters, and postcard size sticker have never been uses and remain in perfect condition.

Vinyl:

Visually the vinyl remains in very good plus condition, it has retained a nice shiny surface, there are some spindle markings on the labels but no other damage such as scuffing or unwanted names or scribble.

The well recognised solid blue labels still look very nice. (pictures are of actual labels)

Play grading:

On playing, the vinyl the sound reproduction remains a pleasure to listen to.

There is some very faint hints of static in some parts of the vinyl, but nothing that effects the listening pleasure of this album, this vinyl dose have some quiet parts on it such as Us an Them and Breath. and these quieter parts are the ones I used to get a true grading of the vinyl. but I can say with confidence that even these iconic track played almost perfectly, with what I can only describe as whispers of static

No skips, jumps very, very little background interference.

This album was play graded on a Technics deck with a high end Stanton 500 cartridge, the treble was turned up fully as I feel that any audio problems are soon herd in this area of reproduction.

I have been as honest as possible with the description.

Watch out for the sale of my original UK Press of, Led Zep I with superhype plum and orange label and the very rare turquois printed outer sleeve.

Pressing Information: Pressings that use A-2 / B-2 lacquers have minor sound quality issues, particularly during the song, Money. Some copies also have a skip pressed into the grooves during the song Money. Such issues were corrected with the A-3 / B-3 cuttings, with the exception of the peak level distortion during the clocks at the beginning of the song Time.

Release Information: Original stereo issue with a very dark blue cover, and a solid light blue triangle (prism) on the label with "The Gramophone Co., Ltd." text on the edge of the label.
On February 27, 1973, the Dark Side of the Moon album was presented to the public for the first time at a press presentation that took place at The London Planetarium. Members of the press who attended this presentation were given a copy of the LP (matrix: SHVL 804 A-2 G 1 / SHVL 804 B-2 G 1) with a 12-page promotional booklet. This booklet contained a picture of the album, song listing and credits, pictures of pyramids, a brief history of the band, a discography, and a picture of the band performing live.

Description: Gatefold cover.
Front Cover: Very dark blue with prism. The front cover has been found with three different types of front openings:
The right front opening of the gatefold cover is sealed with the two sides glued together.
Front Opening: The right front opening of the gatefold cover is sealed with a fold over flap that is glued inside the opening.
Back Cover: Inverted prism. In the upper right corner, it says: " SHVL 804, (IE 064-05249), stereo."
Inside Cover: Black with heartbeat and lyrics. "Printed and made by Garrod and Lofthouse Ltd." in blue text in lower left corner.
Cover Sticker: Some copies had a round purple title sticker on the cover.
Inner Sleeve: Die-cut black polylined inner sleeve with patent numbers and "Made in Great Britain" in silver at the bottom.
Inserts:
Pyramid Poster: Blue pyramid. Matte or glossy.. There is no catalog number on the poster.
Group Poster: A six-pane group shot poster in landscape style with "SHVL 804" in the bottom right corner. Matte or glossy.
Stickers: Issued with two stickers, one yellow and one brown.
Three different types of stickers have been found with this issue:
Brown and yellow graphics stickers with "FasPrint permanent crack back patented" on the back.

A brown/dark blue/yellow/green self-adhesive sticker with Dark Side of the Moon graphics. Matte. The backing paper is tan with 45 degree angled diagonal stripes of dark brown from the top to bottom, and "FasPrint Permanent," and "Crack Back Patented." on the paper. There has no catalogue number on the sticker.

Vinyl’s and inserts will be packed separately The complete package will then be placed into a stiff card package and two stiffeners added.

I did try to photograph the matrix numbers but my camera is not posh enough to do such close up’s. sorry.

The package will be clearly marked

FRAGILE PLEASE DO NOT BEND OR DROP.

Buyers address will be put on both sides of the package and also my own address just to be safe in case, god forbid the album was lost in the post.

All of these records grade as at least very good and most are even better.
