MEGA RARE
1973 1st UK PRESSING
SHVL 804
(A2/B2 1st Pressing Matrices)
with original
solid blue triangle labels
black inner sleeve
dark blue cover
2 posters
2 postcards
First UK pressings of DSOTM are characterised by the following features:
No Cover Sticker:
· The earliest 1st pressing covers were not issued with cover stickers. These were added later (in purple) and later still (in black) because the record company believed that the absence of Pink Floyd on the cover was depressing sales.
Front Cover:
· The Garrod & Lofthouse 1st pressing front cover is a deep shade of blue (not black like later pressings). The blue-ish tinge is only really discernable when compared alongside later pressings.
· The 1st pressing cover is sealed on the left hand side of the gatefold.
Inner Sleeve: The original inner sleeve is black.
Posters: 2 x posters - 'pyramids' and 'Pink Floyd'. 1st pressings posters
have SHVL 804 printed in the bottom right hand corner of the Pink Floyd
poster (later pressings do not) + a white border; and 1st pressing
Pyramid posters have a white border (later pressings have no border).
Postcards: 2 x peelable sticky-back postcards - 'yellow' & 'blue'
pyramids. 1st pressings have brown diagonal lines on the rear of the
postcards. Later pressings are plain white.
Labels: Solid blue triangle labels. Later pressings had hollow (black)
inner triangles to make the label text easier to read.
Matrix Numbers: SHVL 804 A-2 & SHVL 804 B-2
The one offered here has all of the above 1st Pressing features.
Cover: Excellent (not mint) condition. No writings/doodles or seam splits. Some light wear to edges/spine. 35 years old and very well cared for. Inner sleeve: Excellent. Slight seam spliting - easily repaired. Labels: Excellent. Posters: Mint Postcards: Near Mint - still have original backing. Never peeled! Vinyl: Very Good+. Has light feathering and the odd very light scratch. Not Mint or even Excellent but one of the nicest I have seen. Postage: £6 (UK), £10 (EUROPE) & £15 (REST OF THE WORLD) - which includes compulsory insurance and 'signed for' postage. Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.
Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.
Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc
Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
