Description

For sale here is a genuine UK first pressing of Floyds most iconic album "Dark side of the moon". Cover is original midnight blue. Inner sleeve is the original with text in grey type. One poster included but damaged. One sticker, but it is attached to the cover.
The album generally plays well, but has some issues which I will detail. Basically if you can handle around 30 seconds of issues, you have a quite decent copy on your hands.
Matrices are of course A2 / B2. the very first. If you go to the wonderful "Pink Floyd Archives" website, look at the 8th earliest recorded mother and stamper combination.  Side one is 2 / O. Side two is 3 / OG. This has those exact mother/stamper combinations, so one of the very earliest pressings there is. Weighs a healthy 160 grams.
I have taken detailed photos of the cover which I can only grade as very good (VG). Has shelf-wear and some colour loss to the spine in one section. Obviously has the yellow sticker firmly attached! The original inner sleeve is pretty good. Some wrinkles and with some tearing to the paper near the centre section. Would safely grade as very good plus (VG+). The band poster is present, although has damage as shown in the photos. Pyramid poster is missing, Graded as good (G).
Now. The play-grading and the audio issues I mentioned earlier. Side one starts with 15 clicks which start on the run in and continue into the heartbeat for a few seconds, then has 4 soft "ticks". There is a background soft click leading into "Time". Apart from those 2 issues, there is just an isolated pop here and there. Side two has the factory pressing fault where it skips once on "Money". At the end of this track there are 10 clicks.
If you can live with those few seconds worth of clicks, the rest of the album grades a comfortable very good.
So not the perfect copy by any means, but you need £1000+ to get anywhere near that. For a still very playable copy this is not a bad option, and it is such a very early first pressing too.
I have tried to grade accurately. There are no nasty surprises waiting! I have taken photos of the worst marks on the album. All I can add is that if you want a copy that still plays OK and do not want to break the bank, this is worth a look.
