Description

My apologies for this album being removed from sale and re-listed. I had several potential buyers contact me asking about the main photo, wondering why just the artwork disc was shown, and not the A3/B3 second issue, so I have added an additional photo of all of the listed items included in this auction to avoid misunderstandings.
For sale here is a really great copy of Pink Floyds iconic 1973 LP "Dark side of the moon". This is the very highly regarded 2nd UK pressing with "The Gramophone Co Ltd" text around the labels and A3 B3 matrices. Acclaimed by many as only surpassed by the A2 B2 original first pressing. It is very obvious that this has seen very little play and has been very well cared for. Plus, with a mother / stamper combination of 1 P on side 2, a very early second pressing too.
This album is in fantastic condition all round and plays exceptionally well. A full play-grading is detailed below.  No reams of pointless waffle here. This is about the facts. Those facts are listed below. Please note:-
Pink Floyds "Dark side of the moon". A3 B3 2nd UK pressing. Stampers are 3 GMA  and  1 P Dark blue cover is excellent. Original inner sleeve is very good plus. Postcard/sticker is a very strong excellent. Original posters are a strong very good plus. Vinyl surfaces are (visually) excellent to excellent plus. Playback is extraordinarily good and grades as excellent (side one) and excellent (side two). (Please note, my gradings err on the side of safety and some may grade higher. Please please read my feedback to understand the quality of the items I sell and the accuracy of the description).
SOLD WITH SOME GREAT ADDITIONAL EXTRAS.
1. A paperback copy of the excellent book by John Harris, entitled "The dark side of the moon". Nearly 200 pages of text and photographs. A great read. 2. A decorative "wall art" vinyl disc (please do not try to play it!). This is for decoration only. Depicts the iconic prism artwork.

I have been lucky enough to own many many copies of this iconic album, including over 25 copies of the solid blue triangle A2 B2 issue. This copy has a sound quality right up there and gives the first pressing a good run for its money. The detail is outstanding. The clarity is extraordinary. The whole album is pretty close to perfect, and a great buy for anyone not wanting to pay the price of an A2 B2 copy. I will describe each element in a little more detail below.
THE COVER:                      The cover is the earliest type, coloured a deep rich midnight blue, unlike later black issues and is in a really nice preserved condition. There is virtually no shelf-wear, and marks or stains. Beautifully crisp edges. Just some slight colour loss at the corner tips. Has the original 68mm diameter hype sticker attached. This is a cracker and grades a solid excellent. (Ex).
THE INNER SLEEVE:                                    Correct white die-cut inner with Made in Great Britain and patent number text. The inner has some minor creasing and discolouration, but has no rips, tears or stains. Comfortably graded as very good plus. (VG+).
THE VINYL (VISUAL):                                     In bright daylight and angled viewing, both sides are nigh on perfect. Displays a deep black lustre and positively gleams. Vinyl grades visually (side 1) as Ex, (side 2) Ex. labels Ex.
THE VINYL (PLAY-GRADE):                                               Sound quality of the very highest order. I am taking comments straight from my play-grading notebook here. SIDE ONE. Vinyl is perfectly flat to the platter.  Silent on the intro leading into the heartbeat on track 1. Track 2 and track 3 play perfectly. The segue between tracks 3 and 4 into "Time" plays silently. Tracks 4 and 5 play perfectly. Bass lines grunt, sax is so alive you can clearly detect the reed!. A stunning presentation of the highest order. Grade Ex at least. SIDE TWO. Starts with silence which carries on through the whole of track 1.The rest of the side plays to an extremely high and quiet standard. The sound quality throughout is powerful, detailed and dynamic. Instruments and vocals are crystal clear. A beautiful copy indeed. As a grade, side 1 is Ex. Side 2 is Ex. Conservative grading.
POSTERS AND STICKERS:                                               Both posters and the 1 sticker are present and are original to this album, not switched from later copies. The posters have no real issues. No pin holes, marks or damage. There is discolouration from age to the reverse sides and some light creasing. Nothing major. Grade a solid VG+. The sticker that is included is the darker one of the two originally included. It has no damage or creasing at all and is in great condition. This grades Ex.
This is a lovely copy of this classic, iconic and highly collectable record. Just missing the one sticker, but these regularly appear for sale on ebay if you wanted to complete the album fully. I am certain that the winner of this will be more than pleased with the purchase. Hard to find a 2nd pressing in this condition and with sound quality to match.
The paperback book, as clearly shown in the photos, has a sticker to its front face. Could possibly be removed? I have not tried. The book is intact. No loose pages. As a grading, due to the sticker and slight discolouration is a strong VG+.
The artwork disc is what it is! A vinyl picture disc almost, but with no centre spindle hole. It is meant purely as artwork, but a nice addition to the album. Grades Ex.

Postage within the UK will by by Royal Mail 48 hour delivery, paid for by myself. I will post overseas, although I have had issues in the past with Mexico, Russia and Belarus, so I will not be posting there and will cancel any bids from those countries. I have listed the price for UK postage only. Postage overseas would be using Ebays Global shipping programme. Not cheap, but everything is covered, including all taxes and duties payable in your country and insurance. I also dress all my albums in a brand new heavyweight plastic cover and a brand new anti-static inner sleeve. All vinyl is packed outside of the cover and at least 2 stiffeners are used in transit. I have sold many valuable vinyl's over the years and am often credited with Fort Knox style packing.
