THIS AUCTION IS FOR A RARE AND FIRST PRESS PINK FLOYD. THIS IS THEIR 1st RELEASE ON AUGUST 5th 1967 "THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN". THE MAJOR PLUS WITH THIS COPY IS THAT IT HAS THE EARLIEST MOTHER (THAT IS "1" FOR BOTH SIDES) AND THE STAMPERS PUT IT IN THE FIRST 15,000 OFF THE PRESS. HOW DO WE KNOW THIS? THE STAMPERS ARE , ON SIDE 1 "GD" AND SIDE 2 "GO". THESE ARE THE 10th AND 15th STAMPERS RESPECTIVELY. AS A STAMPER WAS USED FOR EACH 1000 PRESSED, THIS MAKES SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE 14,000 AND 15,000 OFF THE PRESS. IT HAS THE "KT" TAX CODE STAMP, AGAIN ONLY 1st PRESS, AND WITH A BLANK INNER SLEEVE, THIS IS A RARE AND COPY OF THIS GROUND BREAKING PIECE OF PINK FLOYD HISTORY....THE COVER: THE ERNEST J. DAY & CO. LTD. ISSUE IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF LIGHT CREASES IN THE LAMINATE, SLIGHT ALBUM RING AND DINGS IN THE CORNERS BUT IT HAS NOT LIFTED AT ALL. THE 3 FLIP BACK REAR IS GOOD ALSO. THE SPINE IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND 100% READABLE. VINYLS AND LABELS: THIS RECORD HAS BEEN PLAYED, THERE IS EVIDENCE OF SOME SPINDLE MARKS TO BOTH SIDES WHEN ANGLED TO THE LIGHT. THE "KT" TAX STAMP IS THERE..... AUDIO REPRODUCTION: A LIGHT BACKGROUND HISS IS EVIDENT AND SOME MINOR POPS, THERE IS A SKIP AT 48SECONDS ON TRACK 3 AND A SKIP AT 46 SECONDS ON TRACK 9(TRACK 3 ON SIDE 2) SYD BARRETT HAS HIS INFLUENCES ALL OVER THIS, AND IT SHOWS WHAT A LOSS TO MUSIC HE WAS.
