Example: The matrix information, YAX 3419-1 G 1, found on side one of the  this Columbia Record pressing of The Piper at the Gates of Dawn indicates:  YAX 3419-1 is the lacquer master number (this includes the catalog number YAX 3419) G is the stamper letter 1 is the mother number  Stampers are made from the Mothers. Mothers are made from the fathers. Fathers are made from the lacquers. And the lacquers are cut from the master tapes. It is interesting to note that side one of the mono pressings of Piper at the Gates of Dawn are all made from a second lacquer. What happened to lacquer number 1 is not known. Stamper Codes: The stamper codes used by Columbia/EMI Records is based on "Gramophone Ltd." and are as follows: 
G=1   only used. for just 300 to be produced.
Example: A record with  G  -  1  stamper letter indicates that the record was made from the first mother stamper and the 1 meaning that it was one of the  first 300 pressings ever made, as these mother stamps were only used to produce 300 to 500 pressings before they are changed

Release Date: August 5, 1967 Release Information: First issue on a black Columbia label with a blue Columbia trademark logo. Songs: Side 1: Astronomy Domine, Lucifer Sam, Matilda Mother, Flaming, Pow R. Toc H., Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk.  Side 2: Interstellar Overdrive, The Gnome, Chapter 24, The Scarecrow, Bike. Description:  Front cover:  Kaleidoscope picture of the band. The title, "PINK FLOYD" is at bottom centre. EMI logo in upper left corner. Laminated flipback cover.

 INNER SLEEVE:  Cream coloured inner sleeve. On the front is an EMI logo at the top centre, with "Add these outstanding LPs to your collection" at the top, 16 LP covers pictured in the middle including Both Sides of Herman's Hermits, and "Remember-the new Emitex cleans and preserves your records," and "Patents applied for" at the bottom. On the back is an EMI logo at the top center, with " - the greatest recording organization in the world" at the top, 16 LP covers pictured in the middle including the Beatles-Revolver, and "E.M.I. Records (The Gramophone Company Ltd.) Hayes - Middlesex - England, Made and Printed in Great Britain" at the bottom.

SPINE:  White with title. The Pink Floyd.  (undamaged and fully readable)
VINYL LABELS:  Black Columbia labels with silver text, and a blue "Columbia Records Magic Notes Trademark" at the top, and a blue "Columbia" in the centre. Underneath the blue "Columbia" it says "Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions. See price lists." On most copies, the letters "K" and "T" are stamped on one of the labels (on either on side 1 or 2) on each side of the spindle hole. These are the U.K. tax stamps and indicate that the tax was paid for this album. At the bottom of the label, it says "Made in Gt. Britain." Text around the bottom edge of the label starts at 10 o'clock and says:  The Gramophone Co., Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorised public performance, broadcasting, and copying of this record

Release Information:  Recorded June 1972 to January 1973 at Abby Road studios, London. During this time the Beatles were busy recording Sgt Pepper in the next studio and it is said that they herd the sounds coming from the Floyd recording and on visiting this studio were extremely impresses at the sounds they were hearing. ? Vinyl: Visually the vinyl remains in excellent condition, it has retained the high polished playing surface. there are some very slight visible spindle markings on the labels No scuffing or unwanted names or scribble.  (pictures are of actual labels) The playing surface has slight signs from inner sleeve removal but nothing more. 
Side one  Track one. Astronomy Domine.  Very slight pop for two revolutions.  No Skips or jumps. to side one. Noting else.
Side Two. Slight static on the lead in and nothing else.apart from the slight static that defines a vinyl from other formats like CD’s



Outer sleeve: remains undamaged apart from some slight creasing to the laminate, no splitting, tearing or unwanted writing.  Back again remains in excellent very clean condition again with NO unwanted scribble or unwanted names or writing.  NO,   File under popular music in right hand top corner.
