Visual grading
Under a strong bright light I can only see a minor amount of fine hairlines and there are no scratches. This is a very clean vinyl and rarely found in this condition. There is one very small scuff type mark on S1 but this has no affect on the audio. Overall this is a visually stunning vinyl and has obviously been very carefully handled since first released and not overly played.
Play grading
This version of 'Arnold Layne' has to be one of the best I have ever heard. It plays with such clarity and depth the audio is absolutely stunning and without doubt grades as Mint- in my opinion. 'Interstellar Overdrive' plays with very similar quality but with perhaps just a touch of underlying static in the quieter sections of which there aren't many! The classic 'See Emily Play' once again plays with superb audio and no interference. 'Remember A Day' has a little background static in the quieter sections but still plays to a very high standard, a superb listen. 'Paintbox' ends the side with audio that cannot be beaten, it plays with sublime quality and incredible clarity and warmth. Easily grades as Mint- once more.
'Julia Dream' has a minor amount of static hiss in the background but still plays with exceptional clarity and there are no clicks, pops or crackle anywhere. '...Eugene' does have a little static at the beginning but is not intrusive. Thereafter the audio is immaculate with just a little static towards the end. 'Cirrus Minor' has one pop at the beginning and one near the end and plays with some static hiss but still plays clearly and it is not particularly intrusive. 'The Nile Song' plays to an excellent standard with hardly any distortion which is rare for this loud track. 'Biding My Time' has excellent audio with just some light static in the background and is a great listen overall. The final track 'Bike' plays with wonderfully clear audio again with light static in the background here and there.
Textured cover
The G & L textured cover is without doubt one of the best I have ever seen, if not the best. It is just so clean you would not know it was from 1971. The edges and thin pinched spine are in superlative condition and even the corners have hardly any wear. There is one tiny amount of wear on the top edge near and one mega small spot mark on the back cover but apart from that this cover has been superbly well cared for.
Labels
They are in great condition with no marks or writing, just some spindle wear. "The Gramophone Co Ltd." or is printed around the label and has "Made in GT Britain" around the bottom.
Inner sleeve
This comes with a plain white inner sleeve with a patent number and Made in Great Britain printed on one side. It has no splits but does have some creasing.
