Description

Please do not be put off by my lack of feedback ratings on this Ebay account. I have been selling vinyl for over 20 years, but have just started using this account as a secondary account which I will use to sell items for others. My other account is used by members of my family to buy stuff, so if I need something secret, presents, gifts etc I use this account. Regular buyers of vinyl records may recognise my other account, which has my username as floyd67-10.
For sale here is a 1st UK pressing of one of Pink Floyds most iconic albums "The Wall". The matrix numbers are A2/B2/A3/B3. There are many variants of the first pressing, but this is recorded as the SIXTH earliest ever pressed. Three of its 4 sides have the very first mother, 1. The fourth side has the second mother, 2. Mother/stamper combinations are as follows (where I can actually read them¬), Side 1 is 1/?, Side 2 is 2/PA, Side 3 is 1/? and Side 4 is 1/TP. These are obviously extremely early mother / stamper combinations and all go to producing a great sound. I am also including a genuine 1979 tour programme too, which is in good condition. The total all round package and in superb all round condition as I will describe below.
From a collection of a friend who has decided he wants to free up some space in his cupboards from the 2000 plus albums he currently owns. I have sifted through some of them and currently am concentrating on the Pink Floyd section. My friend is a bit of a Floyd fanatic and bought most of his albums in the week of release, if not day of release. I am currently selling a handful of Floyd UK first pressings from his personal collection, so please check out my other listings. Some real beauties on offer. This one has a nice little piece of history too. On the inside of the vinyl pocket is a sticker from where it was originally bought. Woolworths! and dated December 1979, so within the first 4 weeks of the albums release.

The cover is a cream colour, not white. Brick lines in a kind of purplish-grey and not aligned all the way to the bottom, front or rear. Made from a single sheet of thick card, folded to the top. No band credits on the inner gatefold. NO shelf-wear to top, bottom or spine. VERY clean example. No damage. Nice sharp leading edges. Has the slightest hint of age discolouration, but still a great example of the first issue cover.  Strictly to record collector guidelines this grades Ex.
The inner sleeves are in pretty perfect condition too. One has a small slit just starting to form on one edge, but as the vinyl is now stored in separate anti-static sleeves, this will not get any worse.. Very clean. Cannot fault them at all, grades Ex.

The tour programme is in very good condition. The only thing worthy of note is some light age discolouration and light handling marking (it is over 40 years old after all!). contains some superb Scarfe drawings and lyrics plus some lovely shots of the band. A lovely item to keep with the album. The total package! This one grades as VG+.
Now for the vinyl. Still a lovely looking copy visually. Both discs retain a nice black sheen. Visually these are beautiful, but a play grade can reveal all sorts!
PLAY-GRADE:- Firstly, Floyd albums have so many very quiet and almost silent passages, it is nigh on impossible not to find a little something here and there. These 2 discs are absolutely stunning when played. Over all 4 sides I have only heard a few random dust "pops" (these are caused by a microscopic dust particle in the groove which the stylus cannot retrieve information from, so just produces a soft "pop". Gentle cleaning, or most often just being played, usually releases these particles. No fault to the vinyl, just from dust in the air). These discs have not been played in around 40 years I am told.  Some of the quiet passages are absolutely silent. Uncanny actually hearing vinyl create no kind of noise. Clarity is amazing. Detail is amazing. Some of the sound effects actually made me jump.....and I knew they were coming. If you got this brand new on day of release, took it home and played it, you would be extremely happy with the sound quality. I would call this a final upgrade, it's that good. Grade Ex+

If you have any questions at all, just ask. I will describe any part, take any photos, or whatever. I believe in a private communication I can send 5 photos directly.
I will NOT sell to Russia or any of its allies. If you bid on this collection your bid will be cancelled, so please, JUST DO NOT BOTHER.
I have opted to show the price for first class signed for postage with the Royal Mail. The cost shown (£5.05) is exactly what it costs me. Unfortunately Royal Mail have just increased their prices YET again! I do not profit on postage costs. My packaging is absolutely second to none, and will be reinforced to hell, so be assured it will reach you just fine. Postage overseas will be through the Global Shipping Programme.
ALL THE ALBUMS I SELL WILL ARRIVE IN A NEW ANTI-STATIC INNER SLEEVE, HEAVY DUTY POLY OUTER COVER AND VINYL SEPERATED FROM THE COVER FOR TRANSIT.
Good luck if you decide to bid on this fantastic genuine earliest UK 1st press of one of the all time great albums that should be in every collection. This particular album would indeed grace any collection.
I am selling a handful of Floyd albums this week, mostly 1st UK pressings and all of great quality. Please check out my other listings for full details.
