Pink Floyd : The Wall A-2U / B-3U / A-4U / B-3U 1st Press 1979
This is one of the finest examples of this classic album that I have ever listened to. There are no clicks or pops and the clarity of sound is stunning across all four sides. As always I played the album in its entirety and there is no obvious intrusion. 'Goodbye Blue Sky' has a handful of dull sounds but they are still very quiet. There are of course so many quiet sections and like I say the clarity is so impressive. The louder passages have no distortion and I can overstate just how strong and clear the audio is, some light statics but nothing intrusive. The two records are in super condition also and the cover is a work of art!
The 'misaligned' cover, without the band members listed on the inside, IS the best I have seen! It is not far off 'as new' so has no obvious wear and it has retained its original shape and structure perfectly. The lyric inners are immaculate also - the previous owner placed each vinyl in a pvc sleeve inside the inners which shows you how serious he was about his records! The transparent Pink Floyd insert is also in perfect condition.
This double album is known as one of the first press variants.

Visual description
The records are in lovely condition and still have a superb glossy look with no marks or scratches on the playing surfaces. Under a bright light I can only see a few faint hairlines on each side and there is nothing that stands out. There are a couple of faint marks on the S2 run but that's before the music begins of course. There is no groove or surface wear and the run out grooves are very clean, for once you can read the matrix info! The labels are near perfect with only a little spindle wear, a little more on the second record.
Play grading
The quiet intro on 'In The Flesh?' has barely any background and the powerful instrumental then plays without fault. The vocal section plays with perfect clarity and the remainder including the crescendo / 'crash' ending is 'as new'. A Mint- start to the album.
The baby intro on 'The Thin Ice' has just one light tick and Gilmour's opening vocal section has no background whatsoever. The next vocal from Waters has just one barely audible static and the instrumental with Gilmour leading it is superb. Mint-
The segue into 'Another Brick In The Wall, Part 1' is flawless and it continues to play with wonderful clarity and depth. Some minor statics during the instrumental but they are very quiet and not intrusive. Near Mint is fair.
The helicopter intro on 'The Happiest Days Of Our Lives' could not play any better and the next section has only a couple of very quiet statics. The vocal section plays with stunning quality and Mint- is again deserved.
'Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2' has a clarity and warmth that is second to none. Every vocal and instrumental play with stunning precision and it grades as Mint and even the angry teacher outro 'plays' perfectly!
For once the phone intro on 'Mother' has no background and Waters' opening vocal section has only a smattering of minor statics but again they are so so quiet. Gilmour's 'chorus' is stunning as is the following solo and from then onwards it plays beautifully with no intrusion. Near Mint- the minus perhaps a tad harsh!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The birdsong intro on 'Goodbye Blue Sky' has a dull sound once per revolution but it is quiet and soon tails off. The look mummy... / acoustic intro are perfect and the first Ooooh / vocal section again plays with remarkable clarity and warmth and it progresses in the same way. Seriously the clarity is STUNNING here! The brief intro is Ex but from then on Mint
The intro on 'Empty Spaces' has only a handful of very quiet statics and the vocal section is flawless. Mint-
'Young Lust' plays with unrivalled quality from start to finish with no intrusion. Mint
Another rarity, the phone conversation on 'One Of My Turns' is close to perfect with only a couple of background statics and the first verse is very similar. Just some light statics towards the end. The next louder vocal is perfect as is the rest of the track. Near Mint
The quiet opening section on 'Don't Leave Me Now' is so often adversely affected by static but the clarity here is superb with only a small number of barely audible statics. The first vocal has hardly any background and it then plays with impeccable quality as the volume increases. This entire section is faultless. Near Mint
'Another Brick In The Wall, Part 3' again plays with a clarity that defies the age of the album. Mint
The very quiet intro on 'Goodbye Cruel World' is incredible because it has no background! The vocal is just as impressive - a Mint conclusion to S2 - wow!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The acoustic intro on 'Hey You' is nigh on perfect and Gilmour's opening vocal is just as strong and clear. As Mason comes in there is still no intrusion and the powerful instrumental is STUNNING in every way. The rest of this classic plays with crystal clear audio and Mint- is about right.
The spoken intro on 'Is There Anybody Out There?' has only a couple of light statics and the vocal section is flawless. The instrumental then plays very clearly with only some quiet statics that clearly are not intrusive. They are not ticks or clicks! Near Mint
'Nobody Home' impresses with outstanding clarity throughout. A fantastic version. Mint-
'Vera' has one dull tick on the intro and then plays with no background at all. Near Mint
'Bring The Boys Back Home' has no background of any kind and grades as Mint
The intro on the classic 'Comfortably Numb' has no background and Waters' opening vocal is equal to that. Gilmour's first vocal is 'as new' as is the following solo. From then on it plays with a clarity, depth and warmth that is second to none and I cannot overstate just how well it plays. The rather well known end sequence (!) is sensational! It is so powerful and you can turn it up to max without it affecting the sonic quality. This is a superb Mint- version.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'The Show Must Go On' on S4 plays with genuine quality i.e. there is no intrusion. Mint
'In The Flesh' is up next and I only detected 3/4 statics from start to finish. So close to perfect so Mint-
The intro on 'Run Like Hell' is nigh on perfect and the opening is indeed... perfect. It continues to play with exemplary audio and the depth and power is superb. Mint-
'Waiting For The Worms' keeps up the standard and plays with STUNNING clarity and definition from the first note to the last. There is zero intrusion. Mint
The very quiet 'Stop' plays beautifully with no background. Mint
The intro on 'The Trial' is just as clean as is the opening vocal section. This level does not drop - the sonic quality is superb through every section, loud or quiet. It is Mint and could not play any better.
'Outside The Wall' ends the album with hardly any static. On second listen it was even 'cleaner' - just a bit more towards the end but still very quiet. Near Mint
The Gatefold & Lyric Inners
As stated this cover is one of the best I have ever seen. It is so clean and the edges and wide spine are in superb condition with no real wear. A tiny 'rub' on the bottom edges by the right corner but it's so very small! The opening edges are close to pristine aside from a minimal amount of feathering at the top and the 'misaligned' front cover is stunning with no marking and no surface rub around the edges. The transparent Pink Floyd insert is 'as new' also. The back cover is just as impressive and the inside of the gatefold is immaculate. This is a stunning example of this iconic cover.
The lyric inners have also been so well looked after. There are no side splits or tears and no marking or creasing. Both thumb notches are in perfect shape and the rounded corners have no wear either.

Postage & Packaging
I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Many thanks.
All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
