Near Mint- condition. Carefully listened to entirely on both sides. (See below for grading guide and other details)
Both side of this LP grade Near Mint-. Overall, the sound is fantastic on this great album. The cover is Mint, with no defects and still encased in the original shrink wrap. The inner sleeve is also mint: crisp with no wrinkles or tears.
My Grading System:
- Mint: No background noise. This is how one would expect a newly opened LP to play
- Near Mint+: Occasional very light background noise. Individual, with no repeats indicative of a scratch. Widely spread out, with no concentration of noise in any area of the record. This is sometimes how a newly opened LP actually plays
- Near Mint-: Occasional light background noise, with more frequency than Near Mint+. Still individual, with no repeats indicative of a scratch. Not as widely spread out, may be a small concentration of noise in one or more tracks. This is usually how a very carefully cared for used LP plays.
- Near Mint- / Very Good++ Occasional light background noise, with more frequency than Near Mint. A very few spots with brief repeats, but lasting no more than a few seconds. Not as widely spread out, may be a small concentration of noise in one or more tracks. This grade of record will satisfy most customers, unless you have a super expensive stereo and want your records to sound as quiet as CDs (in which case, better stick to Near Mint / Mint and Mint). This is a grade I use only for older vintage records that are hard to find Near Mint+ or better. It is the "classic" LP sound - just enough in the background to remind you it is vinyl, but not nearly enough to detract from the listening pleasure.
NOTES ON PLAY-GRADING MY ALBUMS: I am retired and I really enjoy cooking. What does that have to do with grading records? Well, I have also been collecting vinyl since 1975, and I feel it is finally time to start sharing my collection with others. As for the cooking, at least three times a week I take the time to prepare a great meal. This takes 1-2 hours, enough time to listen to one and sometimes two albums that I plan to sell. I listen carefully, and take notes as I listen, so each record I sell is guaranteed to play as described. This is far superior to visual grading - over the years I have acquired albums that looked mint but played no better than very good. If you want to enjoy your vinyl, buy it based on sound, not on looks!
