There is a sad story behind these test pressings, as many of you may know the Gates Of Dawn label was owned by Michael Piper, a guy everyone liked and a dear friend of mine for many years, a key figure on the progressive rock scene. He passed away not long after these test pressings were made, and the LP was not issued as intended on Gates Of Dawn # GOD 014... so only a small number of test pressings exist. I am selling these for his sister, who will get the proceeds from the auction. An ultimate Porcupine Tree rarity, for sure. READ CAREFULLY: these are mint condition, played once by me to judge the sound quality, the reason for this is that all of the small batch of test pressings made had identical patches of vinyl discoloration on them. They do not exist otherwise, and the vinyl grayish discolorations are visually bands at the edges of the discs, several inches long, an issue in the making of the test pressings at RTI. If you put your head right in the speakers you can hear passing bits of almost inaudible noise only in the silent/quiet parts, very, very faint, I couldn't hear anything until I put my head right by the speaker. Otherwise they play perfect, of course. It was impossible to photograph the discolorations, due to the reflectiveness of the vinyl. As I said all of the few copies pressed were identical. I sold a couple of these years ago, now Michael's sister could use the money from this set, so I offer them on auction. If you have any more questions, let me know, they sound great, but it is important that you know about these vinyl discolorations which all copies had. The sleeves are mint, the discs played once carefully.
