Description
FRANCIS POULENC / GEORGES PRETRE / FRENCH NATIONAL RADIO AND TELEVISION ORCHESTRA - " GLORIA FOR SOPRANO, CHOIR, AND ORCHESTRA / CONCERTO FOR ORGAN, STRINGS AND TIMPANI ", Columbia Records/E.M.I. Records Ltd. (SAX 2445) Stereo, 1961.
Very rare, original 1961 first UK/English Stereo issue of this rare LP - the first issue is marked out by the front laminated flip-back sleeve and turquoise and silver label design - see photos.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and put in a new poly-lined inner sleeve (with the original retained to keep it complete).
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No scratches, groove damage, excessive surface noise, distortion, etc. Clean labels with just a couple of very light spindle trails. In daylight it looks perfectly clean, but a bright grading lamp reveals just a few extremely faint paper scuffs and a couple of extremely faint hairline surface marks - as you would expect, these do not sound on playback. Plays well - strong, clear and without interruption from clicks, crackles, etc... The only thing that marks it down a bit for me is some faint surface noise in the pressing that is just audible during the silences before and between tracks and during a couple of near silences in the performance. Clearly only had very light use in it's lifetime and has been very well cared for.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G.+ (No rips, tears, big creases, defacing etc. In good shape, just some light wear visible to the edges and corners, a bit discoloured/yellowed on both covers and the rear suffers some light foxing and a couple of other grubby areas - see photos for further clarification)
NOTE: I must point out that we are actually a long standing physical record shop, with many decades worth of selling, trading and grading records under our collective belts. Unlike so many of the jokers now selling records on ebay, we know how to grade records.
