This auction is for:  POWERGLIDE GLIDE ON PRIVATE 1982 LP pomprock/AOR N MINT EKO RECORDS (BASEHOR,KS)

There were two bands named POWERGLIDE in the 80s. Both played the same musicstyle, namely AOR! This POWERGLIDE released their only (?) album titled 'Glide on' in 1982 on the recordlabel EKO Records. The album contained 8 songs, all sounded like a mixture between AOR and Pomprock. Refrences can be made to LE ROUX, ROADMASTER, AXE and several other bands in the pure early 80s AOR style.

The album starts with "Takin' my changes on a winner", a nice uptempo AOR rocker like HEAD EAST. Next track is a classic early 80s AOR song that sounds like the perfect cross between LE ROUX, SPYS (first) and THRILLS (third). Next track "If you're leaving me behind" has some beautiful piano-AOR keys at the start. The song itself is a good AOR ballad like SURVIVOR. The lead vocals of Bill Parish on this song are very good and just pure AOR styled. Side-A closes with "Turn me on", a nice uptempo AOR rocker like 80s AXE mixed with HEAD EAST.

Side-B opens with "Back in my heart again", this song has a great early 80s AOR sound, not unlike SHERIFF. Next track "Escape from Hollywood" is heavy Pomprock and sounds a lot like ROADMASTER (circa 'Sweet music'), even the keys are there. Then we get to hear the first track that is nothing special. Track is called "Doin' up the town tonight", a song that has a 70s groove like REO SPEEDWAGON, still melodic enough for the AOR fan, just nothing sensational. Closing track of the LP is "Mama sweet", another pomprocker like ROADMASTER, graet paino-keys can also be heard in that song. A must if you're into ROADMASTER circa 'Sweet music' (side-B of that album that is).

This is just a great album and a must if you are into bands like LE ROUX, HEAD EAST, ROADMASTER and THRILLS. It will be hard to find, but well worth investing your money.
