That's The Way It Is, his 12th studio LP, first released in 1970, mirrors that split: eight tapings at RCA Nashville - 'I Just Can't Help Believin'', 'Patch It Up', 'You Don't Have To Say You Love Me' - alongside four live recordings from shows in Las Vegas. Tied to the documentary of the same name yet not a straight soundtrack, it hears him recalibrate his 50s rock and roll legacy, re-press done properly for a new decade.
