Description
GET SET FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS WORTH OF ROCK LPs ON THE RARE AND OBSCURE SIDE! This is an ORIGINAL 1968 U.K. COLUMBIA RECORDS FIRST PRESS STEREO LP titled 'S.F. Sorrow', an all-time 1960s psychedelic classic from The Pretty Things. It is Columbia Records UK catalog number SCX 6306, with blue and black Columbia labels, 1/1 stampers, and laminated Ernest J. Day gatefold cover. The Wikipedia online encyclopedia has this to say about 'S.F. Sorrow': "It was recorded over several months during 1967 at EMI's famous Abbey Road Studios in London, during the same period when The Beatles and Pink Floyd were recording Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and The Piper at the Gates of Dawn respectively. These albums share a similar late-1960s psychedelic sound, and the Floyd and Pretty Things albums were both produced by the late Norman Smith, who had engineered most of the Beatles' recordings until 1966." The Pretty Things on this album are: Phil May-vocals / Wally Allen-bass, guitar, guitar, vocals, wind instruments, piano / Dick Taylor-lead guitar & vocals / John Povey-organ, sitar, percussion, vocals / Twink-drums & vocals. Tracks: S.F. Sorrow Is Born, Bracelets Of Fingers, She Says Good Morning, Private Sorrow, Balloon Burning, Death, Baron Saturday, The Journey, I See You, Well of Destiny, Trust, Old Man going, Loneliest Person. Condition of record is a real nice VG++ with just a very few small and light surface marks which cannot be felt and do not affect play. Record also has an extremely slight and barely existant slow warp which only becomes apparent when the record is placed on a turntable and which also has absolutely no effect on play. Condition of cover is a mid VG+ with some small wrinkles, thin worn areas along the open edges of the front and back gatefolds where the lamination ends before the actual edge of the cover, a moderate amount of contact and ring wear as can be seen in the accompanying image, and some general wear along the edges and on the corners. This first UK stereo pressing of a classic and sought-after LP would be a prime addition to any 1960s psychedelic rock record collection!
