PROKOFIEV / DU PRE / BARENBOIM / ENGLISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA - " PETER & THE WOLF ", Deutsche Grammophon (2531 275) Stereo, 1980.
Very rare German 1st issue LP of Du Pre narrating Peter & The Wolf.
"West German" issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve.
CONDITION:
VINYL = EX- (No scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, very light spindle trails, etc. Even under a bright grading lamp, this record looks to be in perfect condition with no scratches or other visible damage and the record's surface has a lovely sheen. This combined with the very clean labels and tidy sleeve, leads me to thinking that this record has hardly ever been played. Normally records like this get a full EX grading from me (the highest I will put on a classical record). However, I have had to mark this record down a bit as when it plays there is definitely faint surface noise in the background during the quiet/spoken word sections of this record. IMHO, particularly as this record was pressed in 1980 when pressing standards were about as low as they could be, this is in the pressing itself and not the result of any kind of wear, dirt (it's been cleaned to make sure) or damage.
With the current alarming trend of people selling records on eBay that have only been visually graded, I wonder how many of the high value, supposed "Near Mint" copies of this record that are listed on popsike actually sound and look just like this one... but I'm not one of those sellers, so all I can do is grade the record as I see and hear it.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = EX- (No big creases, defacing, etc. In pretty good shape, but for a couple of very light thumb creases and the top left corner of the sleeve is torn or cut away - see photos for further clarification)
