Description
Beautiful, Glossy and strong Playing E+ condition Electric OKEH and featuring early Jazz legend Paul Mares returning for his last Recording Session in 1935 with his Friar's Society Orchestra including Mares on Trumpet, Santo Pecora on Trombone, Omer Simeon on Clarinet, Boyce Brown on Alto Sax, Jess Stacy on Piano, Marvin Saxbeg & Pat Pattison on String Bass, and George Wettling on drums. Recorded in Chicago on January 26, 1935, The selections are Reincarnation C-871-C and The Land of Dreams C-873-C (Okeh 41575). Please review my grading details below. Payment is by paypal, and shipping will be by USPS priority Mailing. All of my packaging of these fragile 78's is done safely by sandwiching the records between sturdy Cardboard and surrounding it with bubble wrap before placing it in a Cardboard box surrounded by packing peanuts, and the Box is Stamped FRAGILE. grading is by both visual inspection and test playing. I have set a very reasonable opening minimum and No Reserve for this historic last Mares Recording in beautiful E+ condition and will let it go from there. Best of Luck on your bidding.
My grading system is simple
M - I was transported back in time to a record store and purchased new stock and returned to 2017.
M- It looks like new old stock but I can't prove it.
E+ It looks and plays really fantastic, visual grading under light may have detected very minimal light surface scuffs and maybe some tiny surface scratches not effecting the overall quality of play
E It has been obviously been handled and played a number of times, it may have typical minor scuffs and some surface scratches as you would find on most records of this vintage, but still plays really great
E- , quite a few signs of scuffing and other surface blemishes and scratches but still enjoyable.
G+ A serious collector would turn his nose up at it, but a beginner would jump in, sound quality far from great, starting to fade much more gray and little gloss left, and almost ready for the Old record retirement home.
G Been through a war and looks like it was played 100's of times with worn steel needle, A wall hanger or target practice item, or for those who just wanted to say they have one
