These notes were added after listing:
I've given the vinyl a good clean and the 'superficial' marks did, indeed, become more superficial still. However when I played the record I discovered a couple of small surface scratches. There are no 'sticks', 'skips' or 'jumps' - but you do get the 'ticks'. The sound quality is great - I forgotten just how good. And it's still a great, great, record, and I can still happily grade it as Very Good And I've just reduced the price by £25
Here we can a rare original copy of a cult album - but they were used to being called worse than that.
This is a UK first-press copy, distinguishing factors being the first pressing did not have ''EMI'' on the label, and to the top left of the label is printed: "Sold in the UK, subject to resale price conditions, see price lists" which subsequent pressings dropped.
The runout / matrix are SHVL 752 A - 2 & SHVL 752B - 2 respectively.
I'm grading 'Very Good' because of a couple of superficial marks on the playing. I'm expecting them to become even more superficial with a good clean - that it will have prior to despatch.
There are some ridiculous claims to fame listed on eBay and all I can say is tread with caution; when this record is listed as "UK Original" with its bar-code on display it really is time to worry! Here to be sold.
(I try to pitch my stuff below the market in the hope of actually selling something - it's not cheaper because it's inferior. Quite the contrary on most occasions - and I never use 'stock' photos; what you see is what you get!)

Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."
