Description

Phil Woods/Jackie McLean/Gene Quill “Bird Feathers” Prestige Records 1957 1st pressing (1957) with the Bergenfield NJ address on the label (# 8204 mono) in a laminate cardboard sleeve. The record grading is only Fair (F) with quite a bit of wear on Side A - there are multiple pops and “jumps” on track 1 and at the very end of track 3 there’s a skip. There’s also a fair amount of crackle throughout. There are visible scratches, too, yet they are mainly cosmetic. On the positive, all of Side B is VG with some crackling. Side A of the label is also stamped “Not for Sale” The following is on the runout grooves:


  • Side A): (etched) PRLP-8204-A (stamped) RVG A (with a tiny “AB” stamped)

  • Side B): (etched) PRLP-8204-B (stamped) RVG A (with a tiny “AB” stamped)


The outer case is Very Good (VG) with no splits. The laminate front cover still feels smooth and is in great shape with a vibrant red color. There’s a slight bend to the top right and a small stain on the top upper left of the back cover. There’s also the “Not for Sale” stamp on the back cover and a handwritten name. The laminate on the top of the spine has a ~2” crack, yet the cardboard beneath is not split. The top & bottom seams just have some tiny dings. (all reflected in the photos). All sales final.


An original of this album is pretty hard to find, thus the high starting auction price even for one in just Fair condition.


NOTE:  This album will ship with the inner sleeve & record OUTSIDE of the cover as to prevent any possible seam damage to the cover during shipment. Both the album cover and the inner sleeve & vinyl will be  contained within a plastic protective sleeve inside of the shipping box with padding on top & bottom
