Description

Pink Floyd – The Dark Side Of The Moon

UK Second Issue 12" LP Vinyl Record. Harvest - SHVL 804
The gatefold cover, with hype sticker is VG+ The original inner sleeve is VG+
The labels are VG+ / VG+
The vinyl is VG+ / Excellent The audio is VG++ / Near Mint
The poster inserts are both Near Mint.
These copies were produced for a short time only, between first pressing and first repress, featuring the earliest use of the new black Harvest "blue outline prism" label design, with the same colour "powder blue" outline, as the original solid blue triangle pressing.
These early transitional pressings, still have the label rim text starting as "The Gramophone Co. Ltd", and have been found with vinyl matrix A2/B2 or A3/B2 or A3/B3.
  • Matrix / Runout (Runout, side A, variant 1): SHVL 804 - A-3
  • Matrix / Runout (Runout, side B, variant 1): SHVL 804 - B-2
The audio on these second pressings are close to impossible to tell the difference from the first pressing, and if anything, they are technically better than the first pressing, as the first pressing was supposed to have suffered from "sibilance" in the track "On The Run" on the (A2) A Side.
The A3 remaster was specifically done to fix that, but you will still struggle to tell the difference in a blind test!
The B side, (as urban legend would have it) - was supposed to suffer from a skip in "Money", but that is mostly BS as it has only been found on 1 particular stamper code, and even then, it is only with a specific set up, like an ultra light and very expensive cartridge, or a too wide, cheap stylus. It is very rare, to the point of highly improbable, and it is too often mentioned to cover skips from actual scratches. (If there is a skip mentioned in "Money", then it is most likely from a scratch)
