PINK FLOYD - PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN - MONO 1967. 1st pressing 

 

This is a 1967 1st UK MONO vinyl pressing of Pink Floyd's debut LP. 

 

It is on the black & blue Columbia label: SX 6157 and shows the very first known matrix numbers: 


Matrix code / XAX 3419-2 M 1 / XAX 3420-1 G 1


 

The lp is housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover with NO 'File under Popular - Pop Groups' on the back.

 

Record sound: vinyl has been cleaned and now conservatively graded on the safe side as you can see by photos under harsh lighting to give you the best picture of what you are buying. There is Sleeve wear and 1 faint scratch that does not effect playing of the record

This is a record that has been played and loved but kept in well condition played only the best turntables

Side 1: Vg - VG+ deep sound with no jumps slight vinyl crackle in areas

Side 2: Vg - VG+ deep sound. With no jumps slight vinyl crackle in areas

Record labels:

A really clean ooo pair with just one or two barely visible spindle marks around the centre holes. No writing.

Cover - VG+

A good example which retains a clean-gloss front laminate, with slight creasing. The rear panel has been written on in biro and slight staining but is free from any blemishes or wear. All flipbacks are undamaged and fully intact. The spine is clean and white with full lamination and wording. 


Inner sleeve: VG++

Housed in the very first EMI advertising sleeve for this release, which shows The Beatles’ Revolver, The Yardbirds’ ‘Roger the Engineer’, etc. Later copies - even of this first pressing - had a different inner sleeve showing The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper. Clean and flat with a few very light storage wrinkles - no tears or rips


This is a really fantastic record that would be a staple piece in anyone’s collection. Superb lp to be had.
