Description
I have been collecting records for decades and the time has come for some of them to find a new home. Most will be in excellent condition, some have been in my family for years and remain unplayed. I will grade them all fairly and listen to them before listing.
All of them will be professionally cleaned before being sent.
Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have any. Thanks very much for looking !
Up for auction here is an early Uk pressing of the debut Lp by Pink Floyd entitled Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. Originally Released in the Uk on Columbia records?– catalogue number SCX 6157. This is a rare reissue on Columbia records from 1969 on the one box EMI label pressing . Unlike later reissues this is rare and comes in an original flipback pressed sleeve. It is in superb condition throughout. It has barely been played.
Matrix / Runout (A) YAX 3419-1 and YAX 3420-1 . The mother stampers are 1GR on side 1 and 1GR on side 2. I believe that the stampers make this the earliest pressing of those issued on the one box EMI labels !!!
The vinyl is visually in Stunning condition and has obviously been barely played. I would grade it as visually being in very strong Excellent + condition , a superb example. There is a very very faint superficial mark visible under light on Matilda Mother/ Flaming which does not affect playback. The audio is brilliant and plays through superbly without any skips or jumps. I did not hear any clicks or ticks. There is a bit of normal very light background crackle but I would grade the audio as a strong Excellent+. It was an absolute pleasure to listen too.
The Labels are in awesome condition with some light spindle marks which shows how little this has been played . I would grade them also as a strong Excellent+. They contain the “ Sold in the Uk “ text which also makes it a rare pressing.
The Original and very early E.J Day flipback sleeve has some normal light signs of wear but is still a really great example. The spine is clearly legible. The laminate is vibrant and the flipback is nice and sharp. There is some very light ringwear and slight laminate creasing but for a sleeve that is 54 years old this is an excellent example. I would grade it as Excellent.
The record comes with its original EMI inner sleeve which is also excellent. It will be sent in a new Polylined inner sleeve.
Overall a superb copy of this classic Floyd lp.

I use Record Collector ratings to grade my vinyl. These are :
Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening of sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc..
Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise: it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc.. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing
