Description
This is an auction for a 1968 press of Floyd’s Saucerful… LP on Columbia.
This was rescued from my uncle’s collection - he was going to transfer it from his shed - where it’s sat for 40 years - to his skip!
Amazingly after a clean up it actually plays quite well. There are some surface marks evident to both sides but the important thing is I didn’t detect a jump/skip.
Matrices are XAX3633-1 and XAX3634-1
I played it on two separate turntables - a low end unforgiving Sony and a kinder Audio Technica. Occasional dead wax crackle and some crackle can be heard on the extended church organ outro on the title track (A1), but no major playback issues.
Sleeve has a vague woody odour but is in pretty decent shape, the spine is still easily legible.
Inner is original and the previous owner has kindly written down a Floyd and Barrett discography in joined up writing. See pictures.
Overall a solid, playable copy of this LP. Given it’s 40 year residence in a shed it’s probably not for the fussier vinyl collector, but fine if you want a copy to listen to rather than look at.
