An original 1st issue of THE WALL on the UK Harvest label from 1979. Matrix A4/B3/A3/B4. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in a true and genuine 1st issue cover. Note how in the interior on the right hand panel, and directly above the 'baby in the cell' - there are NO band names in purple. All copies from 2nd issue would have exhibited these names in purple - every single copy. Also included is the original Floyd sticker on the front. And then there are both the original heavy-card round cornered inner sleeves. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl [D1 is Ex/Ex-] & [D2 Ex+] The vinyl looks to have only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side, a bit of low-level scuffing in one patch on side 1 - nothing heavy or sinister. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT, or EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one deviation on disc 1. Intros and inbetweens are mostly really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Don't forget that on the WALL there are lots of low-key sequences. Even many decent copies will not REALLY deliver the goods on the audio side for you. You're going to need an original low-mileage copy to do it some sort of justice. Most of the low-key passages play very nice and clean... "Mother" sounds superb. Interference is mostly very minor and infrequent. You might detect a few static crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. But you will be predominantly left to enjoy very nice clean audio for the most part. The only exception/deviation is in 'Blue Skies' - there's a couple of low-level scuff marks. This leads to a low-level tick per rotation throughout the track. Nothing invasive - but it will certainly be audible in the background because the WALL is very low-key. It does continue briefly into the intro of the next track - but fades pretty quickly thereafter. Remember, this LP covers four sides of very delicate audio...One track playing sub-par still leaves 97%+ of the album very nice and clean.
Cover (Ex+) Wow! Don't think I've ever seen an original copy looking this darn good. I did have to do a double take to begin with..is this really from 1979? Well, as hard as it is to believe this is genuine '1979'. The way the cover is manufactured from one piece of card and the lack of those names in purple [as mentioned above] unequivocally show that this is a genuine 1979 copy. What is extraordinary is that there's absolutely NO evidence of ageing - anywhere. Literally none at all - which is quite frankly a bit of a one-off. There's are no nasty marks creases, or anything unsightly back and front. The interior looks great too - I could just make out a couple of light creases at the top of the right panel - that the worst of it! Edge wear is pretty much non-existent with sharp openings and a perfect spine. Overall the cover sits totally flat and retains perfect rigidity. FINAL UPGRADE - no sweat.
Inner (Ex+) Unaged, clean and without splits.
