Description

In this auction I am offering up a still factory sealed  "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" by Pink Floyd from 1967.  This is the USA stereo version on Tower Records (ST5093), the band is still listed as "The Pink Floyd", and the album appears to simply be titled "The Pink Floyd" on the spine, the proper album title only appears on the back of the sleeve). In the USA this was released as a self titled debut.  It has been kept in storage for 47 years, and looks like you just purchased it off the shelf. Completely factory sealed and kept where no natural light could fade or damage the cover in any way. It features a revised track listing, actually featuring the single "See Emily Play" (in a rare rechanneled stereo form) as its first track! This LP in a sealed condition such as this is basically extinct. This is most likely a once in a lifetime opportunity. If you choose to let this album remain sealed, every single year is adding up and increasing its value. Take into consideration how much this LP will be worth in 5 years. Think about 10. For the young collector that is in this for the long game, imagine hanging onto this until its 100th anniversary in 2067, still sealed! The value can only increase, and can be seen as an investment if you so choose. I have personally chose to sell before this albums' 50th anniversary. Now you can do as you see fit with it. An audiophile will be pleased as punch to simply remove the shrink and simply listen to and fully enjoy a product that no one else will have access to. They may rip this into a fantastic .flac file that will surpass any version currently out there. A savvy collector may see worth down the line and simply hang on to it sealed until the time is right. No matter what you decide to do with this album, you simply cannot lose.

This is NOT a re-release, NOT a reissue, NOT a counterfit, NOT a cut-out, and NOT a second/third/or fourth pressing.  This is the real deal, folks.  Don't pass this one up, I'm serious.  I really didn't want to have to sell this one at this time, but since hard times have fallen on the city of Detroit, I'm finding myself having to sell my most prized LPs just for basic necessities.  If you're reading this auction right now, you have found me at a very rare time indeed, where I need to sell the albums that really define my collection.  Consider the 7 days that this auction is available as a free pass to not only help enhance your own record collection, but to help me personally make it through some hard economic times.  We can both win big on this one, no matter how hard it is for me to part with such an amazing LP.  No matter what collectors you talk to or what message boards you frequent, it is highly unlikely that anyone you have ever talked to just happens to have a sealed "Piper" just laying around. This is the time, this is the opportunity to set yourself apart from the Pink Floyd collector's realm. You will own the ivory elephant. You will be in possession of the holy grail. The Pink Floyd Maltese Falcon. I'm starting this one low. A $9.99 price that if you're just that lucky, and my keywords don't register with the collecting community, could land you a real steal of a deal. Bid now or forever wonder what may have been. I love using the term "extinct" with this LP. It's not a word to be thrown out there lightly. I believe this qualifies. Once again, this album was sealed for production in 1967. As of 2014, no one has broken that seal. Please do the math.

The Cover:

The cover of this album is basically brand new minus some light binwear from being stored. It has been kept in a clear plastic bag to prevent any damage to the shrinkwrap itself. The shrinkwrap has almost "clenched" around the sleeve, becoming so tight that it is beginning to slightly affect it. There is a light bubbling effect at the top from this clenching (see pictures). It is just begging to be unwrapped. Very light wear on the sleeve and a corner bump from being in storage, but everything looks 95% more or less brand new.  Since it is has been stored away for so many years, there are absolutely no signs of fading or discoloration.  This album has never been mishandled or mistreated in any way except for being stored a bit too snugly.  This nearly looks as new as the day it was purchased off the shelf almost 5 decades ago.  The colors have remained extremely deep and vibrant. You will be shocked at these colors when you receive the album, my pictures simply do not do it justice. There is still the original price tag attached to front from actual time of purchase. It's a big "department store" style (Korvette's). This could most likely be removed by steaming it off or some other process that I'm not going to attempt. I cannot stress enough that you will be owning a piece of history by winning this auction.

The Vinyl:

The actual LP inside will be exactly what you would expect.  A perfect, pristine piece of vinyl that has never seen the light of day since it was pressed and wrapped in its sleeve. You will be the absolute first person to play the vinyl. I cannot stress this enough. You would be a pioneer if you chose to unwrap and play the vinyl. Unwrapping this would make you the Indiana Jones of Pink Floyd records.

Any fan of Pink Floyd, or any record collector in general would be proud to own this classic album in such a special condition. Unless you don't particularly like the music on the record, you will not be disappointed about any aspect of this purchase!  This is as "new" as you will EVER find this LP, because well, it pretty much IS new.  Auctions like this simply don't come around very often (if ever), so you must ask yourself if this is the kind of item you want to pass up and let slip into someone else's hands.  Can your record collection stand to be without it?  I want to make sure that this 47 year old gem ends up in the hands of a TRUE collector that will appreciate what I'm offering here.  This auction is only for serious collectors, so please decide if this applies to you before you make your bid.  There is no way you will be dissatisfied with your purchase, and I know you will treasure this.  Good Luck on this one, you could end up getting it for a steal!

On Jun-15-14 at 17:11:59 PDT, seller added the following information:

*********Somehow the listing didn't format for easy reading on the main description section. I apologize, and here is the same exact text as above, but hopefully formatted better to read left to right without having to scroll as much. Frustratingly enough, it won't allow me to reformat the description any more than this at this point in the auction.************
