ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This beautiful and exceedingly rare 4-LP box set from Lyrinx (LYR 8004-021/24, French pressing, red/black label, stereo, booklet included) entitled "Liszt de Vienne à Bayreuth" features the remarkable pianist Pierre Pradier in a fascinating Liszt survey spanning the composer's residencies in the two musical centers and embracing many of his greatest works for solo piano – extraordinary performances preserved in demonstration quality sound.
PLEASE NOTE:
Amazingly, this particular copy is inscribed by the pianist to the great conductor Manuel Rosenthal – see the picture provided.

Pradier was warmly recorded in the grand amphithéâtre de l'Ecole d'Art et d'Architecture de Luminy in Marseille, France, during 28-31 July 1978, 25-29 July 1979, and 22-26 July 1980.
The producer/engineer for these sessions was Lyrinx founder René Gambini. Pradier plays a Bosendorfer Imperial Concert Grand.
Included is a full-size, 6-page booklet, generously illustrated, with insightful liner notes by Jean Roy – all texts in French only. Incidentally, the striking cover art gracing the box front reproduces a detail from a fresco titled "Le Triomphe de la Mort", found at Campo-Santo de Pise, and which was the inspiration for Liszt's Totentanz.
Few labels have boasted such superlative production standards as Lyrinx. Every aspect of their recordings – from the sound quality, to the artwork, to the pressings and packaging – is a model of quality, imagination, and dedication to music and art – indeed, a Lyrinx issues is a work of art in itself.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the box is near-MINT. There is light shelfwear, but that is all. Otherwise, the box appears almost as new. There are no corner breaks, seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, an outstanding collector’s copy.
The condition of the booklet is EXCELLENT. It shows light handling, but is free of marks, tears, or other defects.
The condition of the 4 LPs is near-MINT throughout and playback is superb in all 4 – overall, these rate as truly fine collector's copies.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
