Description
This is a fairly rare one. It is from Prince's 4th album Controversy and was only issued as a single in the US and Peru. This is the US release. (The small print on the record says 1981 but the small print on the sleeve says 1982. Prince Vault website says released 1982.)
Because I cannot find any information online about the picture sleeve, I assume it is unofficial. I have had multiple copies of this, sometimes with slight variations in the gloss or finish and, some torn with staple holes and tape residue. Some, like this one listed, had the record inside.
I understand (now) that hardcore vinyl collectors do not like anything not officially made by the Big Record Companies (that Prince loved so much), so let me be extra clear--the 7" Promo vinyl is official WB Records, BUT the picture sleeve is NOT. (It isn't on Sleevographia or Discogs. So I guess they would know. I'm trying not to tell the long story, but I bought it used in 1997 as part of a "lot" basically, consisting of several boxes and Prince promo posters from an estate sale.)
This record is not in great condition. I think grading it as Good+ feels right. I cannot play it to test it. I hope the pictures tell the story. There are a few marks which may cause some surface noise. It's in a nice transparent protective outer sleeve and an anti-static inner sleeve that prevents seam splits. I have never played it, but it looks great.
