Description
Louisiana Folklore Society (Folk-Lyric) LFS A-5, “Prison Worksongs”, from 1960. Recorded at Angola State Prison, Louisiana in 1959 by Harry Oster. Original DG vinyl plays at NM with practically no background sound. Heavy Folkways-type jacket has considerable seamwear on the upper and lower seams including a 3” (5 cm) seam split at top opening. There is a tape outline at both upper and lower seams at open end. Descriptive booklet is included and in good shape except for age toning effects. Songs include “Berta”, “Take This Hammer”, “Stewball”, “Five Long Years for One Man”, “I Had Five Long Years”, “Early in the Mornin’”, “All Teamed Up in Angola’s Mule Lot”, “I Got a Hurtin’ in My Right Side”, “Let Your Hammer Ring”, “Cleanin’ This Highway”, “John Henry”, “Somethin’ Within Me”, and “Jesus Cares”. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $14.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, and Australia; elsewhere inquire. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 per LP domestic, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, registered mail for $11.75 extra is strongly recommended. (Last year, a package to the Netherlands was lost in shipment, resulting in disappointment on both sides.) Many old records are now practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs will be mailed together in a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped.
