Queen : News Of The World 1/2 1st Press

This genuine first press plays 'as new' with no interference on either side.  This may well be the finest example I have ever listened to such is the clarity, depth and warmth of the audio on offer here.  For a first press to play as clearly as this is a rarity and has hardly been played if at all!  There is in fact no spindle wear and the vinyl itself is visually stunning with no marks etc.  This is without doubt a FINAL UPGRADE version and as always I have played every track in full - a 'complete' grading is given below.

The cover is in excellent condition with only very minimal shelf wear and has retained its original shape and structure extremely well.  The lyric inner is in great shape with only one tiny split on the bottom edge.

Visual grading

The iconic 'We Will Rock You' plays with faultless audio from the very first 'beat'.  The power and depth of the audio could not be any stronger and there are no ticks, clicks or pops and no background static either.  An imperious Mint start to the album.

The quiet intro on 'We Are The Champions' plays with a clarity that can accurately be described 'as new' and the first chorus is just as good.  It continues in the same exact way with literally no intrusion.  Has this album ever been played before?!  The sonic quality so far is exceptional and this classic has not even a single dust tick let alone anything more.  Another Mint track.

'Sheer Heart Attack' plays with immense power and definition with no sign of any interference.  Turn it up to max it deserves it!  There is no distortion and my only complaint is that Roger's drums are not higher in the mix!  Mint

A slight change of tempo (!) - the piano intro on 'All Dead All Dead' plays perfectly and Brian's first vocal has a clarity to match.  It proceeds in the same precise way with no intrusion.  It is rare for this track to play with such incredible clarity and yet the audio here really is 'crystal clear', that also applies to the fade out.  A Mint version on this 1/2 first press.

'Spread Your Wings' plays with stunning audio from the get go and every verse and chorus play with sublime precision.  Little more needs to be said.  An underrated track in my opinion but it infinitely deserves a Mint grade.  Another example of the clarity on offer here is on the long fade out which plays perfectly with not one dust tick.

'Fight From The Inside' ends the side with great quality and no inner groove distortion and I cannot tell you how rare that is.  Another sign this record has hardly been played and of course there is no interference.  Mint and what a side of music!

The first few grooves on 'Get Down Make Love' again defy the age of the album and play with perfect clarity, a couple of barely audible dust ticks at most.  Freddie's opening vocal and chorus play to the same 'high end' standard and this quality is maintained to the very end.  The psychedelic section is 'as new' and this is easily another Mint track.  Love the chorus sections here, they are so powerful and play with tremendous depth.

'Sleeping On The Sidewalk' plays with sublime clarity and...no interference.  'As new' can once again be used as you would expect from such a 'bluesy' number the audio is so deep and rich, the depth of the audio really is stunning.  Mint

'Who Needs You' plays beautifully from start to finish with no 'background' whatsoever.  Pure MINT and then some!

The quiet intro on the classic 'It's Late' is flawless.  The opening vocal is equally as 'clean' and the first chorus is breathtakingly good!  It continues to play with great clarity and power and the 'heavy' section is just phenomenal!  It plays with tremendous power and there is no distortion.  Audio does not get any better than this!  This standard is kept up to the very end and again I am 100% positive in grading this as Mint as it just could not play any better.

The gentle 'My Melancholy Blues' ends the album in stunning fashion with, you guessed it, no interference.  That is rare for this track because it is so quiet and yet you cannot fault it.  A couple of dust ticks at the beginning but each note is so clean and Mint is again an honest assessment of the audio.

In summary this first pressing plays with stunning clarity on both sides with no interference of any kind.  In essence it plays like it has never been played before with a sonic quality that could not be enhanced in any way and it easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE album.  So often on a super clean vinyl you might find one click but that is not the case here!  This is a stunning find.

The Gatefold & Lyric Inner

The iconic cover is in lovely condition with only a little shelf wear.  The edges and wide spine have only minimal rubbing and the corners remain very strong with only minimal wear again.  The opening edge is more or less perfect with no obvious handling wear.  The front cover is super clean with only one very small 'rub' near the bottom edge and the back cover is just as good with only a minor touch of 'spotting' in the lower left corner.  The inside of the gatefold is immaculate with no damage to the inner spine and overall this is easily an Ex+ cover.

The paper lyric inner (with rounded corners) is in excellent condition with just one very small bottom edge split (not even 3cms) and barely any creasing.  No marking anywhere.
