On offer here is a fabulous first pressing of this album and the lyric inner has no splits which is a mega rarity!  There are also only two stampers on each side denoting it as one of the very early first pressings.

Visual grading

  This vinyl has been hardly played judging by the minimal amount of spindle wear.  It looks stunning to the eye also and I cannot detect any hairlines of any note.  It really is in immaculate condition and even the run out grooves are supremely clean.  It is one of the cleanest I have seen in a long long time.

Play grading  

There is no lead in static on 'We Will Rock You' and it then plays with stunning dynamic power and clarity.  There are no clicks, pops or distortion.  'We Are The Champions' more than equals that standard with audio that can almost be graded as Mint it is that good.  I don't think I have better on a 1/2 first pressing.  'Sheer Heart Attack' plays perfectly with incredible power and no distortion.  For such a quiet track 'All Dead All Dead' has audio of exceptional quality displaying only a minimal amount of very quiet static here and there.  It is a wonderful version the likes of which is so rarely heard on a first press.  'Spread Your Wings' has practically no interference and plays with immense clarity.  If I'm being ultra-critical there is odd static sound but they are so much in the background and do not intrude on what is a stunning listen.  'Fight From The Inside' ends the side with superb quality and no distortion.  So often this track has some distortion so it's rare to find this track playing so clearly.

'Get Down Make Love' begins with a little static but soon disappears and then plays with great quality and barely any other 'background'.  Stunning clarity once again.  The remaining tracks play with a quality that is so rare on a 1/2 press.  'Who Needs You' deserves special mention as the audio is just so clear for a track that plays so quietly.  The classic 'It's Late' has a hint of background static on the intro but maybe I'm being picky!  I grade my records sitting very close to the speakers and I hear anything and everything, as I should do of course!  The audio is still 'high end' and plays with great power and depth.  No clicks, pops, jumps etc.   The louder sections 'rock out' with stunning power and without distortion.  'My Melancholy Blues' has one pop at the start but for the life of me I can't see why as the vinyl is perfectly clean.  Overall the track plays extremely well with only light static here and there although there are 2/3 clicks right at the end.  I always find this track plays with more interference than the others, I haven't found a perfect one yet on a first press!  It is probably due to the grooves being pressed closer together in order to 'fit' it onto the side which can affect the sound.  Overall though this side plays with real quality and will not disappoint.  

Gatefold cover

The G & L gatefold is of excellent quality with absolute minimal rubbing on the edges and hardly any wear on the two right hand corners.  The wide spine does have some rubbing most predominantly at the top and bottom.  The front cover is supremely clean and has non marking and the back cover is the same.  The inside of the gatefold is immaculate and the opening edge has looks as good as the first day it was released back in '77.  Overall this is a superb first press cover with the only real wear being on the spine and is better than so many you find today.

Lyric inner

The die-cut lyric inner is still in great condition after all these years and is one of the 'Queen' ones that is notoriously found in poor condition due to it being made of paper.  All of the first/early pressings had lyric inners made of paper.  This one has no splits and only a minor amount of rubbing on the edges and very mild ringwear.  It is without doubt one of the best you will find.

The labels

They are both in excellent condition with only a minimal amount of spindle wear.  There is no writing just a few very small age related 'spots' that can only be seen when held at a certain angle.
