RARE original EMI Records very first STEREO press released in Chile in 1977 by EMI ODEON CHILENA S.A. Records, catalog number 5173 and matrix numbers: YAX-5355 (Z) in Side 1 and YAX 5356 in Side 2, with red/orange-brown labels.

“NEWS OF THE WORLD” was originally released in 1977 by EMI Records in Europe and by Elektra Records in USA. The same year, like most of Queen albums after “A Night At The Opera”, we got this album released in Chile, licensed from EMI Records, but like in so many cases of the period we got an UNIQUE cover. Cover is UNIQUE, made of an only piece of thin cardboard, with full laminated front and back cover, slightly textured, keeping the same original artwork and front cover pasted on the flips, with catalog number in upper right corner of back cover and EMI logo in the lower left corner of the back cover and at the bottom, below the credits, is written “Marca Registrada, Fabricado y distribuido por EMI ODEON CHILENA S.A. Santiago -Chile” (“Trademark, Made and Distributed by EMI ODEON CHILENA S.A. Santiago - Chile”). The spine is very thin and it’s written in the middle: “QUEEN: NEWS OF THE WORLD – EMI – 5173 STEREO”. YES, this is A GREAT FIND for all Queen fans and collectors, A MUST TO HAVE, specially in this great condition. It’s interesting to see that in front cover the title is in English and in back cover the tracklist is only in English too and sides are identified as “Side One” and “Side Two”, but in labels the title of the album is in Spanish only (NOTICIAS DEL MUNDO) and tracklist is in Spanish, translated to English, with sides identified as “A” and “B”, with a small boxed EMI logo at the top of both labels. And everything is in SUPERB condition!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in VG+ or EX- condition for both sides, clean, complete, no marks or names written, only light ring marks and some minimal wear at the mouth and corners, with laminated almost perfect. The record is in strong VG or VG+ condition, glossy and clean, but with some light scratches, hairlines and scuffs, and a light warp which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in EX- condition the Side 1, clean and clear, but some past owner wrote his name and it’s a circle drawed around the label, and in EX or EX+ condition the Side 2. The sound is far the best part, it’s in EX or EX+ condition in both sides, loud, clear and clean, only minimal pops here and there, more evident in “All dead, all dead”, ”Fight from the inside” and “Get down, make love”, which don’t affect the great experience to hear this album, no background noise at all (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), most of songs play in NM+ condition!!! Overall, this record is in superb condition with a very nice cover, slightly textured and laminated, and an amazing sound quality after 34 years, with no distortions, no skips, no repetitions at all!!! Stunning audio quality!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

We have an unique value worldwide: 

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending of thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP7 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for.
