Description
Seattle progressive metal legends Queensryche released their second studio album in 1986, titled 'Rage For Order'. It was the follow-up to the first full-length album 'The Warning', released FORTY years ago, in '84. 'Rage' explored new sounds, and since it was the mid 80s, they became kind of glammed out with their stage clothes. (Thankfully, that only lasted a little while.) 'Rage' has a few hits on it, including "Walk in the Shadows", "I Dream in Infrared", and "Gonna Get Close to You". That song was a remake of a Lisa Dal Bello track, originally done by her awesome Canadian rock band Dalbello. (Find and watch the original version. It's really good!) "Gonna Get Close to You" was the first (and last) time that Queensryche allowed and released an extended remix 12" of one of their songs! (Again, find that version, the 12" mix of "Gonna Get Close to You", and check it out. I think it's awesome!)
The album was originally released with a blue cloudy colored border with gold lettering around the Tri-Ryche logo, but the label decided to go with a gold border and black letters. It was now much easier to see the name of the band and album title! I agree with that, but I much rather the blue cloudy version. A 12" picture disc was planned, but that idea was scrapped. A rare and scarce Japanese prototype 12" picture disc was released, in very, very limited quantities. Like probably 50 to no more than 100 copies were made, and they are promo copies. Which means it was never on sale to the general public. In all of my many years of picture disc collecting, I've seen only two of these. This is one of those two!
Quite possibly the 'holy grail' of Queensryche collectibles, and definitely one of the rarest and possibly most sought after picture discs in existence. If you're interested, don't wait too long. It could go really fast or be taken down. You never know with these things! It's the border around the logo from the album cover on the A side, and the B side is song titles and credits, written in both English and Japanese. It came with a hype card (instead of a sticker), which is included. The vinyl itself is in fantastic shape, and is still shiny and clean! Looks like this came out thirty years ago, in '94. This comes in a PVC jacket. It pops up once every several years. It's not an impulse buy, it's an investment...
Queensryche is, of course, still around, but only with original members Michael "The Whip" Wilton (on guitar) and Eddie Jackson (on bass). Founding member and lead guitarist Chris DeGarmo was the first to leave, and is an airplane pilot now. The much publicized fued between singer Geoff Tate and the band resulted in him leaving (or getting fired. Depends on who you ask), as well as lawsuits. And original drummer Scott Rockenfield left in 2017, hoping to just take a break, but never returned to the band. The current lineup is talented, and their albums are great. I've seen the new lineup in concert, and they're awesome. But the vintage and classic albums are 80s metal masterpieces, and have stood the test of time. 'Rage for Order' is on that list of Queensryche milestones! Make this very rare Queensryche collectible yours today. I'll even add insurance, for free, in case anything happens in transit. (But we SHOULD be ok, as I ship in sturdy record mailers.) Long live the Queen(sryche)!
