QUESTION MARK & THE MYSTERIANS
96 TEARS (album)

? & The Mysterians formed in Flint, MI, in 1962, and took its name from the obscure science-fiction movie The Mysterians. The band of Mexican/Americans were initially based in Corpus Christi, although they were based for much of their career in Flint, Michigan, where they issued 96 Tears on their own label Pa-Go-Go Records in 1966, before it was picked up by Neil Bogart for release on Cameo.

A relentless 'punk' two note organ sound ran throughout the record which quickly became a classic of its genre making No. 1 in the U.S., going on to be one of the most covered garage band classics of the '60s.

They enjoyed some subsequent chart success but were never quite able to recapture the magic of 96 Tears or shake off the 'one hit wonder' tag, although it wasn't quite true.

This was their first album and is quite the scarce garage classic. You’ll get many of 45 sides here, as well as songs unique to the platter. This is an original US pressing on Cameo in MONO.
