Description

An original 1st press of the DEBUT from 1973 on EMI. Matrix 5/5. Etching 'Blair Rules!'. Note how the side indicators on the label are vertical [not horizontal]. Original 1st pressings of the debut are not so easy to find - as it didn't enter the top 40 originally [only retrospectively]. 3/3 copies are certainlly available - but there seems to have been a very common pressing fault in the run [difficult to avoid!]. The 5's sorted all problems out - and sound fab. The vinyl comes housed in an original non-laminated cover with double spine. These 1st issues are incredibly difficult to find in anything approaching decent condition. Also included is the EMI inner sleeve too. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen the light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with two slightest deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. And this is both hard to find and very important on this title. You're going to need a clean player otherwise the quieter moments will soon become distracting. Lovely and clean into those acoustic/instrumental sections. Think 'Liar' etc.... I'm struggling to pick out anything undesirable. The plucking by May on TNCD is exquisite - against a total clean background sounds incredible. 'Doing All right' - is always a very fussy number and will trip up even very good copies. This copy absolutely aces it - the intro to the song is against a perfectly quiet background. Almost impossible to replicate this level of clarity. All I could detect was a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. And one solitary isolated tick early in D.A.R. and a further one in the final second of the song. This example will deliver you a super rendition of Queen's debut so it can be fully appreciated. So good - it's probably straight in at No.1..I've certainly never witnessed better. Clean feed all the way baby!
Cover (Ex-) A total pain to find in even half decent condition. The unlaminated 1st issues are really difficult to find without surface wear. But this example is still in excellent order. The front is clear of markings. The rear looks good too with just a couple of snall lowlevel scuffing patches. No ageing - maybe just a couple of small superficial creases. Edge wear is very slight....difficult to replicate. The openings are still sharp and the spines [both] are 99% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Wowzer!
Inner (Vg) Some ageing. No splits.
