Description
The first thing that's different about these records is that they are shiny aluminum and not black like other records. Also surprising is they go at 33 1/3 rpm instead of 78 rpm. There are 6 sides, but only 4 labels, and I don't know which label goes with which disc. They were all loose in the sleeves, I guess the glue keeping them attached had dried up.
I suspect a special stylus is needed to get the best audio from aluminum records, but I tried listening with a modern needle for a minute and the music was remarkably clear. Albert Bartlett billed himself as, "The Tango King." The one tune I heard was "Tonight Or Never" in a dance tempo. The show (s) were sponsored by "Kiss-Proof, Indelible Lipstick." That's the brand-name, not a description. I didn't catch where the orchestra was playing, but it was on CBS, on WABC, in New York. The announcer is David Ross. In case you have trouble reading the typing on the label, it says, "Albert Bartlett and His Orchestra." Feb. 4, 1933. part 1."
I don't know much about grading records, especially aluminum records. I tried to show any scratches and damage in the photo. There are scratches and some kind of mold in places. However, I didn't hear any defects.
