Description
12 Inch Uncoated Aluminum Radio Transcription Disc 1933 New York City Mayoral Election
This 12" double sided Speak-O-Phone aluminum disc is labeled "Why McKee?" It contains what appear to be two separate editorials / advertisements for Fiorello La Guardia who was running in the 1933 NYC mayoral election.
Jimmy Walker and his Irish-run Tammany Hall were forced out of office by scandal and La Guardia was running to replace him. La Guardia ran on the Fusion Party platform, which was supported by Republicans, reform-minded Democrats, and independents. Joseph McKee entered the race as the nominee of the new "Recovery Party" at the last minute sponsored by Bronx Democratic boss Edward J. Flynn.
These political editorials explain why not to vote for McKee and his political machine.
This rare disc is in Good Condition with some scratches and scuffs.
