Here is a MEGA RARE classic vintage roots of rock n roll album from my collection offered up for sale: An original 1958 lp album. "Buddy Holly "That'll be the Day" on Decca records DL 8707 MONO.This is one of only three albums released during Buddy's lifetime before Buddy's tragic early death in a light airplane crash. These recordings were made in 1956 as Decca was his first recording label. Decca released only two singles from the sessions before releasing (firing) Buddy after the tracks failed to chart. Undeterred Buddy made his way to Norman Petty's Clovis New Mexico recording studio and ultimately to Coral records where he hit fame with a different recording of "That'll be the day". So this version is NOT the common version heard on radio! Lots of little heard tracks! It is all great stuff and still fresh 59 years later. This RARE lp is on heavy weight ceramic type vinyl that really holds up against common wear & play! This deep groove record grades VG/VG+, is clean and glossy, it is remarkably quit as you set the needle down at record's edge, it has light marks and sleeve wear, a couple heavier marks are noted.1/2" on side 1, side 2 has a needle mark nearly across the whole side but does not pop loudly, only light ticks which the music masks pretty well. Has been PLAY TESTED, plays great from start to finish with very good sound quality,minimal surface noise NO jumps or skips! NO hisss or annoying heavy surface noise. This record still delivers a very enjoyable listen! The cover rates VG+, is clean looking on the front, has bright color with no ring wear, looks like water slight damage near opening on right side, binder edge inctact, EX and readable, All seams intact except 1/2" split at top oping and 1/2" split near other top corner.Small damage at center of rear cover near Decca logo.Very nice overall for a 55 year old! I'm including a swanky vintage Decca plastic lined inner sleeve for safe storage. (see pics) Classic songs and a very VERY RARE collectable,Book value up to $400!
