Description
Up for sale is one of the rarest jazz lps ever issued on a major UK label.
The copy offered here is a TEST PRESSING of this lp, great condition too!
This item is:
- The Harold Ashby Quartet - Born To Swing
- 2 x 1 sided test pressings. Extremely rare, these tests have never been seen on the open market before...... possibly a unique item?
- UK Columbia Lansdowne Series 33SX 1257
- Matrix numbers: XAX 1961-1N and XAX 1962-1N
- Both records have a 1G mother and stamper as would be expected from an absolute 1st press EMI group lp
- With printed information sheet, presumably the same as the rear of the actual finished sleeve - this sheet isn't a photocopy, it looks factory issued, but cut out by hand.
- Records are housed in EMI "use Emitex" poly-lined inners
- Record 1 is in NM condition, a couple of super fine sleeve removal marks visible under a strong light, great audio.
- Record 2 is in VG+ to EX- condition. The record is free of scratches, but has some very light marks on the vinyl when viewed under a strong light - the information sheet was stored against this side of the lp, I think these light marks are probably from where the info sheet was against the record for so many years. Sound-wise the record plays great, EX audio.
- Information sheet is in VG- condition. Small tear at the top, some light age toning to the edges. "for BBC?" written in light pencil.
- Use Emitex company sleeves are in VG+ and G+ condition respectively. 1 sleeve has the side 2 matrix number in pencil, date stamp and some other minor writing. The other sleeve is free of writing, but has some general aging.
- There is no picture sleeve with these test pressings
