We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.
We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday. We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.

RARE and sought after for good reason....Original 1967 first pressing British only issue with nice laminated cover on the famously collected UK Decca Records label (the Lp was the only Savoy Brown to never be issued in the USA)
Most Savoy Brown aficionadoes are aware that Kim Simmonds led Savoy Brown released their first album in England only in 1967, that it was called "Shake Down", and that most Americans have heard very little of this album, probably only the two cuts featured on the compilation Savoy Brown Chronicles. The true Savoy Brown fan might have to search far and wide to find a copy, as with Jack the Toad, the later, pub-rocking Savoy Brown album now considered a classic.
Kim assembled a multiracial band in 1965/66 and by 1967 had recorded Shake Down. It's a great action bluesrock boom jam that is very reminiscent of Getting to the Point, Savoy Brown's second album (first in America) -- much better known than this one. Shake Down consists mostly of superb blues covers that sound their own, and one excellent blues jam, "Doormouse Rides the Rails", featuring the band's first-rate second guitarist, Martin Stone. His interplay with Savoy Brown guru Kim Simmonds on such tracks as "It's All My Fault," "Shake 'Em on Down," and especially on the traditional blues opus "Black Night" are among the high points of the album. Singer Bryce Portius (one of the first blacks to front a British blues band) has a great vocal style, and it works very well for this material. His highlights include the Howlin' Wolf classic "I Ain't Superstitious," and the Willie Dixon-penned tune, "Little Girl",.
Kim is already showing maturity beyond his teenage years in terms of track selection and musical direction; as a guitarist, he shows his chops very nicely on "Shake 'Em On Down," already clearly grasping the less-is-more concept that makes for great blues. His playing in these early years is electrifying reflecting well on this timeless classic. Best advise would be to pursue this album diligently; it's an electrifying blues gem that will have you shaking it on down with the best of the classic Savoy Brown albums...

CONDITION: The cover: laminated 43 year old delicate British issue is in very collectible VG++ shape with only minor use visible ...no split seams and only light previous handling visible.
The vinyl: All glossy on both sides...side one is very clean VG++ with only hard to see very minor inner sleeve scuffs, really nothing, so expect to play excellent and clean. Side two is the same but for the first track has a visible circular groove mark that will produces a couple or so revolutions of light hiss. Despite the one flaw, the rest of the tracks and side are clean and playing excellent without distraction.
