PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! RARE 1973 FIRST PRINTING!
TRIPPED-OUT ... ACID-PROGRESSIVE CLASSIC
FAUST
\ UK - (black & white TWIN GIRLS) VIRGIN RECORDS - VC 501
Quite frankly, there is literally nothing else out there quite like this. Total acid-prog madness from beginning to end.
Original 1973 BRITISH-only first pressing THIRD "FAUST" album, a sonic underground creation by one of the true pioneer acid-prog bands from the turn of the '70s ...
Recorded between June 71 and June 1973 .... Faust's 1973 Virgin LP is an absolute classic and considered by many to be the band's best work. Originally released as one 43-min long sound collage Cult German band Faust's third album was something completely unexpected: although the first LP explored new realms no other dared to, the second album was much more accessible, even if it still was pretty strange, and had tons more personality. 'The Faust Tapes' is extremely experimental and alien nature of the music, file in with your early Hawkwind and other Krautrock gems of the era. After 'So Far', it seemed like the band found a style to stick to, which was very different from the minimalistic debut. But then 'The Faust Tapes' comes along. Twenty six tracks, only a few of them longer than two minutes, though it flows together as two side long suites! Avant-garde as it had never been done before, where manifested, there are a huge array of styles, like Psych-prog with sprinkles of folk rock, acid-ambient, sound effect tapes, folktronica, noise rock a-la-Velvet Underground, drone, electronic experiments, or almost undescribable avant-garde. They experiment with new sounds, using either traditional rock instruments, like the guitar, or using more unusual ones like the wide range of percussion, which includes also different types of bells. They also love to play with studio effects, an activity that at the time had been highly adventurous by fellow acid-Krautrock bands from the OHR label. The many twenty six "songs," are all to be considered as a whole: the tracks simply create a musical collage of a strange, yet curious picture. Twenty six tracks that each have something different to say, a collection of musical parenthesis all smashed into more than forty minutes. It is also an album that, because of it's controversial nature, has influenced many bands and albums that came out later on. 'Flashback Caruso' is a sincere psychedelic tribute mixed with the melancholic musical wanderings of Krautrock. J'ai Mal Aux Dents' is much more noisy and dissonant, a proto- noise rock piece for sure. 'Der Baum' is somewhat catchy, in it's pure innocence, even though highly repetitive, and has a very unique rhythms section. As far as the rest of the songs are concerned, their story has been told. No, this doesn't really resemble Amon Duul II or Can because neither of those bands ever went *completely* crazy like Faust has done here. This is in a league of its own. What's most surprising about the entire thing is that for the first 5 minutes, you're treated to a really beautiful and melodic psychedelic Floyd-like vocal melody leading directly into an atmospheric set of keyboard notes. About 10 minutes before the album finally finishes up, you're treated to a very accessible and lengthy Kinks-inspired vocal melody that's *definitely* a breath of fresh air after the amazing ordeal you just went through and without losing the genuine Krautrock feel. 1.
