Description
This super rare 78 RPM record by the legendary “BOOGIE MAN” AKA JOHN LEE HOOKER is absolutely amazing! It features the tracks "Morning Blues" and "Do the Boogie". The record is a first pressing with pristine shellac and an etched matrix #JB-1404 X20/JB-14003 X20 and the catalog number is A-308-A/B.
A very rare find! The record plays NM. Condition is V++/E as there is a small, shallow chip on the edge.
This item is perfect for collectors of vintage vinyl records and fans of Delta blues music from the early 1950s. The record label is ACORN and it is in Excellent There is a very small surface nick on one outside edge of the play area that is NOT the beginning of what could become a crack if handled hard, see picture. The record plays strong and John Lee does not disappoint on this very early 78! Don't miss out on the opportunity to own a piece of music history.
If you use Popsike etc for reference make sure you read the listings fully, zoom in on the record for visual condition if vinyl is visible and clear. And view the history. The latest one that sold does not set the bar and there is a very large difference between V (VG if 45 grading is used) and M- (applies to both 45’s and 78’s as N- isn’t recognized by some)

My 78 grading scale is listed below-
M- MINT MINUS - Highest grade used. Appears unplayed. Full luster. Slight signs of handling
E+ EXCELLENT PLUS - Full luster remains. Very few careful plays. Slightest indications of use or handling.
E EXCELLENT - Majority of luster remains. Mild signs of play, but no serious wear, scratches or scuffs.
E- EXCELLENT MINUS- Has luster with either minor graying in areas or with usual scuffs from sleeve, see description for more.
V++ VERY GOOD DOUBLE PLUS- Luster remains, but record has some apparent wear, scuffs and / or scratches. Still a pretty nice 78, acceptable to most collectors.
V+ VERY GOOD PLUS - Record has considerable wear, scuff and / or scratches. Still plays pretty well but is clearly a used record. An AVERAGE USED 78 is in the V to V+ range.
V VERY GOOD - Mostly or fully gray from use. Obvious surface noise but probably still plays pretty well. Scuffing and / or scratches more prominent.
V- VERY GOOD MINUS - Further deterioration. Fully gray with deeper wear and heavy surface noise.
G GOOD - Very rough, deeply gray, surface noise about equal to music.
