Description
For sale is a genuine very first pressing of Velvet Underground's avantgarde sophomore album "White Light / White Heat" on Verve Records V6-5046. This is the rare edition that has all of the hardest-to-find attributes including the skull tattoo cover, mis-spelled "There She Comes Now", Andy Warhol concept credit, Lou Reed "Lead Guitar" credit, and "Three Prong Music" credit on all tracks. This copy is in stunning condition, the best currently available on eBay.
DESCRIPTION
Vinyl is NM- deep gloss, bright luster, exceptionally clean. Disc shows no signs of being removed from the sleeve other than maybe 3 wisps of visual surface scuffs from original paper sleeve (now stored outside cover in new Mo-Fi poly inner). Playback is clear and bright with virtually no background noise, even between tracks (listen to transitions on both sides below). Labels are perfect (see pics), no marks, stickers, or writing. This is the first vintage disc I have ever listed as Near Mint Minus on eBay. It's the best copy you'll find that isn't sealed. Matrix runouts read "V6-5046 SIDE 1 MGS-1258" and "V6-5046 SIDE 2 MGS-1259".
Cover is VG++ (by Goldmine Standard, or "EX" with eBay's system) rich black, tight seams, strong corners, fully legible spine (see detail pic), very little contact wear. Some disc impression is visible on front only due to shiny solid black surface. Would likely not be visible on any other cover design, and the finish is not worn away. Corners show some rub (see detail pic) and there is one crease 3" rear bottom right (not creased through to front). Some stray tiny marks and nicks, nothing major. Small "X" impression on rear top left (barely visible in pic). No splits, stains, or writing. Original company inner sleeve is crisp and strong, two flagged corners, one side split 2". Other sides both strong, no stains or tears.
