Description
Here we have a Mighty Rare and Desirable Rock 'n Roll original. It is as rare as a polite child, or a Cabinet Minister with a conscience. HOWEVER.. as with all of these super-rare discs, it AIN'T PERFECT! Please read on..
It is Eddie Cochran with "Sittin In The Balcony" and "Completely Sweet" on an original UK London 45 rpm 7" disc, number 45-HL U 8433. It is as shiny as the nose of a healthy Golden Labrador and it plays VERY WELL INDEED and dates from 1957.
Both sides play through beautifully, without hop skip or jump. The "B" side has only a very few tiny light sleeve marks and is probably something like a VG++ or better. There is a label-rip affecting the "D" and second "O" in the London logo. The "A" side also plays very well indeed, and the label is complete and clean. BUT.. there is a small mark (see close-up photo) which plays through without a problem, but does produce a few clicks. Unfortunately the song (writ by John D Loudermilk under the pseudonym "Johnny D", trivia fans) is one with lots of stops, silent bits and pregnant pauses. It is during one such pregnant pause that a few clicks can be heard. They're not too bad, audible in stereo but MUCH REDUCED with the "mono" button pressed. I reckon that they knock the "A" side down a notch to a grading of VG+ or thereabouts. Anyhoo, that don't matter a hill o' beans, because it's a staggeringly rare artefact, rare on 78, impossible on 45. So.. Bid now before the owner sees the error of his ways. I am not a dealer.
I am just a very old bloke thinning out his lifetime collection of STUFF before the floor collapses (or I do).
